Petition Enthusiast Clay Chastain Asks To Pitch Latest Kansas City Green Transit Plan (With Gondolas) To City Hall Committee

Sent to City Hall and other local transit officials courtesy of Kansas City's most prolific petitioner.

Clay Chastain makes request to present "Green Transit" petition proposal to Council's Transportation & Infrastructure Committee

This is an official request from Clay Chastain to make a 15-minute presentation (on June 7th) to the City Council's Transportation & Infrastructure Committee concerning the "Green Transit" Petition Initiative currently being circulated among Kansas City voters and slated for the 2018 November election.

This transit initiative seeks to build the city the one major piece of infrastructure that has been missing for decades and that is holding back Kansas City's chance to grow, increase the quality of life for its citizens and enhance future economic prosperity...a modern efficient and successful (citywide) public transportation system of benefit to all.

Specifically, the petition proposes to build Kansas City a rapid citywide multimodal self-guidance (autonomous) transit system featuring high-performance electric rail and bus systems and an electric aerial gondola transport system by re-purposing one of the existing sales taxes that currently funds Kansas City's poorly-performing diesel bus-based transit system, and using the tax measure to secure federal matching funds.

In the alternative, I would request 2-minutes to submit the petition plan to the committee, briefly explain it and then answer any questions.

This transit proposal is a competing plan to the on-going plan to expand the City's streetcar system. And unlike the streetcar expansion plan, the Green Transit petition proposal calls for a citywide election to enable all voters to make this important infrastructure decision.

Thank you,

Clay Chastain... designer of the "Green Transit" petition initiative and leading member of the committee of petitioners.

  1. Clay is finally on to something. Our City should NOT do the Streetcar project and it also should NOT do this sort of project. However, the StreetCar is 52-Million a mile, and this would run between 4-6 million a mile and wouldn't shut down the roads.

Both are a mistake, but you sure can make a LOT more mistakes at 4-million a mile... I say let 'em fly.
