Building Resources For Kansas City Readers

With its new North Kansas City headquarters, the Rabbit Hole is aiming for the children's-literature stars

Zach Bauman Pete Cowdin stands in an expansive North Kansas City warehouse filled with bottled beverages stacked on wooden pallets. Everything in this three-story, 165,000-square-foot industrial space is made of raw, exposed concrete, amplifying the abnormally chilly spring day. Workers zip by on forklifts, moving at a speed that seems unsafe, glass clanking as the pallets are loaded onto waiting trucks.

Courthouse Change Coming Soon???

Term limits, other Jackson County charter changes likely headed to November ballot

Pencil in November for that vote on term limits and other proposed changes to the charter for Jackson County government. County Executive Frank White vetoed the measure on Friday that would have put those changes on the Aug. 7 primary election ballot, and did so with the assent, if not the blessing, of the county legislator who authored the proposal.

Johnson County will soon have thousands of new voting machines. The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners approved a recommendation from the election commissioner to buy 2,100 new voting machines at a cost of $10.5 million. Kansas City Upgrades

Mile by mile, crews upgrade water mains throughout Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You might be seeing construction around town, and KC Water could even be digging up your front yard. It's all part of their long-term water main replacement plan. "It's a part of our larger project and goal to replace 28 miles of our 2,800-mile system in the city, so that`s 1 percent per year," project manager Terry Thomas said.

Show-Me Voter Support For Weed???

Missouri Voters, Not Lawmakers, Will Decide The Future Of Medical Cannabis

A measure that would have narrowly legalized medical marijuana died in the final week of Missouri's legislative session, meaning the issue will be left entirely up to voters in November. Only terminally ill patients and people with epilepsy could have obtained smokeless medical cannabis under a measure added to a healthcare bill by GOP Rep.

Rock Chalk Support Didn't Help

U.S. House rejects farm, food bill despite support of three Kansas lawmakers

Three of four Kansas members of the U.S. House voted on Friday for a new federal farm bill that went down to defeat and left President Donald Trump without traction on controversial work and job-training mandates for people who receive food stamps. The House's Republican-written agriculture and nutrition bill was championed by House Speaker Paul Ryan and farm lobbying interests, but was defeated 198-213.

Kansas City Double Up Hype

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes is throwing the first pitch at the Royals game

Royals catcher Sal Perez should wear an extra glove tonight because the man with the biggest arm in Kansas City is throwing out the first pitch tonight. That's my way of introducing Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was previously and so was his big league dad.

And this is the OPEN THREAD for right now . . .

Comments

  1. 3 out of 4 Kansas House Republicans voted in favor of the farm bill.

    Guess who didn't.

That's right, Kevin Yoder didn't vote at all. Once again, the weasel is trying to have it both ways by avoiding a vote. He's scared and doesn't want to be labeled as cruel to hungry poor people. But remember, by skipping the vote, he didn't support and effectively killed work requirements for food stamps.

Congressman Ron Estes of Wichita: “I will continue to fight for Kansas farmers and ranchers and urge Nancy Pelosi and congressional democrats to stop playing political games with the farm bill,” he said.

Swamp skinny dipper and Pelosi enabler Yoder: Meh... don't care, didn't vote.

Oh, and thanks Yoder for fully funding Planned Parenthood again.

Could we get someone with principles and a backbone in the primary please?
