TKC SAVES THE PLANET!!! TOP THREATS TO KANSAS CITY ON EARTH DAY 2018!!!

Earth Day was founded in 1970 to spark environmental awareness and promote policy changes geared toward conservation. Currently, the holiday also serves as yet another occasion for stubborn old dudes to blow off steam and deny trends they feel they can't change.

Meanwhile, Kansas City confronts a few eco-threats which thwart progress and threaten the quality of local life.

Here's a quick run down . . .

Rising Sewer & Water Rates

Time and time again we must remind our readers that KCMO is stuck in a losing contract with the EPA that will cost BILLIONS and won't ever be paid off. The open storm sewer environmental debacle is part of the reason why local water rates keep rising year after year despite City Hall working diligently to keep questions and conversation regarding this ongoing civic crisis to a minimum.

Tornado Season Panic

We can debate the causes of climate change but in the next few weeks every weather event will be regarded as a crisis by most newsies. Even better, Katie "Hurricane" Horner is coming back to the Kansas City eco-system and sure to stir up the local weather scene and climate concern.

Increased Illegal Dumping

So many parts of this town are a dump. Efforts to crackdown on Kansas City dumpers (heh) have been thwarted by local crooks stealing spy tech cameras. Meanwhile, everybody from hobos to home improvement guys used a great many parts of this town as a garbage can and environmental disaster.

And so . . .

Freaky weather has dominated Kansas City so far in 2018 and will likely grow worse as the divisive American discourse has locals mistakenly placing all of their faith in either science or late stage capitalism rather than finding simple ways to help save the planet which start by focusing on neighborhood cleanup rather than the wasteful and extravagant development agenda which has dominated City Hall for nearly a decade.

  1. Truth is, there's a lot of people who seem to want the planet to go up in flames because they're anti-social not because of any belief system or political ideology.

    1. Neighborhood cleanups are nice TKC but lets be honest. The KC environmentalist crew want people to give up their cars, take back streets and put everyone on a bike. It's not practical and it's made to declare war against Conservatives, not because they really care about living in a nicer neighborhood. Very few of them want to cleanup local dumps, they are just working to change voting blocks and demographics which favor right wing strongholds in the suburbs.

  21. Concerning the Sewer Dept.- What is said here is exactly what was said in 2010. Whenever addressed Terry Leads and other (get)high ups start spouting and it may take them an hour to stop to let someone else speak. Let's focus on what has been done and what they are currently working. After cutting thru the BS the answer is veryLITTLE. Rain gardens and septic concerns are small and make up less than 5% of the problem- these are :easy pickin's. Very liitle has benn done on the CS/SS, big Big BIG projects. These keep getting deferred or "next Year", or false starts where money disappears. Overall money is being spent(sometimes not on water/sewer concerns) by the truck load withput real results, just a lot of talk. Need to AUDIT and CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT. As it was said by Terry Leads on RUCKUS "Years of neglect and corruption since the 1940's. Who says the Pendergast era is over in the style of KC city management. In 2012 the yearly "Ethics" training course required by ALL employees, the opening line was "The pendergast era is over". Traing class erupted and did not continue for 20 minutes that this was BS. Instructor admitted he was given a script and was only paid to read it. Time for big CHANGE.
