An elderly Kansas City woman says the city is threatening her with a fine and up to jail time for where she stores her recycling bin. Mary Bryne, 80, has lived on the corner of 41st Street and Genesse most of her life.
I was talking to a neighbor the other day, and he said he'd gotten something similar for growing tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets IN HIS BACK YARD, which he's been doing for 45 years. It's unbelievable the city can harass people for stuff that doesn't bother anyone and not do anything about people who let their property fall apart.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever dealt with the management of that department, arrogant and just plain mean ass black women, they put more elderly in an early grave worrying them to death over stupid crap. The inspectors for the most part are good decent people trying to help but management yells at them and forces them to write tickets just for the money. But yet you can’t get them to do anything about out of town owners who continually disobey every ordinance on record and no penalty’s against them ever. Damn shame

ReplyDeleteThis is THE stupidest thing I've heard in a long time and it's low-hanging fruit. We all know there are a ton of other neighborhoods out there that have far more serious issues than a recycle bin and a cooler on the front porch. Go do something about those areas and then I might be interested in your efforts. Right now you just look like you're bullying somebody's great-grandmother.
