Missouri and the other unhappy states of America: Despite an improving economy, more people are glum

The U.S. economy looks pretty good by most measures: Jobs are plentiful, growth is picking up, prices aren't rising too quickly, and unemployment is on track this year to hit the lowest level since 1969. Helpful Reminder From El Papa

Pope To World: Hell Does Exist

Things got a little heated at the Vatican this week when an Italian journalist reported that Pope Francis denied the existence of hell. Apparently, the fiery 93- year-old avowed atheist reporter, Eugenio Scalfari of La Repubblica, set the social-media world aflame after writing in Italian that when asked about the fate of "bad souls," the pontiff responded, "Hell does not exist."

And this is the OPEN THREAD for right now . . .

  4. So apparently there are a lot of people who consider themselves to be "Catholics" who seized the chance to take the word of a senile 93-year-old atheist "reporter", working from memory and not notes, as an excuse to slander the current "Holy Father".

Papal infallibility has been a doctrine of the Catholic Church since 1870, and those "who do not care for Pope Francis", especially those who post slanderous accusations on this and other blogs need to realize that, if they claim to be members of the Catholic Church, they have no right to criticize, and they are putting their souls in mortal danger by doing so.

They are in danger of committing the sin of "Americanism", condemned by Pope Leo XIII (Testem Benevolentiae Nostrae) and Pope St. Pius X (Nostre Charge Apostolique).

And of course, if they are not "Catholics" then they are nothing more than religious bigots!

  8. Pope announced officially that LIMBO does not exist in 2015, so this is not a surprise. If there is no hell then it mean Jesus is a liar and had no reason to come to earth, preach about hell, die and claim faith in him can save you from hell. One of the 2 is lying. Either Jesus is a liar about hell, or the Pope is a liar about hell. You be the judge.

  9. Keep in mind the Catholic church killed a larger percent of the world's population during the inquisition, than Hitler did in WWII. And the Catholic church "deleted" one of the 10 commandments that says "you shall not make or worship any graven images" meaning those statutes of Mary and the saints in the church. PLUS Mary was born, raised and died a Jewish woman. The Catholic church didn't exist for 900 years after she died. So quit trying to claim Mary as a Catholic, she was Jewish, just like the women the Pope burned at the stake during the inquisition!
