Will Bike Share Work In Golden Ghetto???

Honestly want to know if any of the denizens of our blog community will partake or at least brake for this KCMO gambit now looking to clog streets in a nicer part of town . . .

New bike-sharing program coming to Johnson County, Kan., in 2018

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Officials in Johnson County, Kansas, are embracing bike-sharing. The Mid-America Regional Council awarded transportation funding in 2014 to BikeWalkKC to expand bike sharing into Johnson County. The county hopes to begin installing its own system next spring under the BCycle banner, The Kansas City Star reported.

  1. Urban planning pipe-dream.

Liberal do-gooders think they can clap their hands and create a utopian society.

Americans are fat, lazy, non-exercising, SUV drivers.

The extremely small percentage of bike riders are enthusiasts who have no interest in riding a generic BikeShare bicycle.

When the obese Sylvester James, Jolie Justus, Troy Schulte, Jim Heeter, etc., crowd begin commuting on bicycles I'll retract my statements.

  2. I did the bike share thing when I was working in Chicago as I lived two miles from my office and there were stations in front of my apartment and in front of my office. This won't be the case in the suburbs. Also, it worked in Chicago because there was a full-time staff shuttling bikes around so that supply moved to quell demand. I don't see staff positions in this proposal.

  3. I was going to take the family to Yellowstone, but I think instead we'll experience that scenic Shawnee to Olathe trek in the middle of August.

  9. Obsolete, will be replaced by dockless bike share in a few months. KC is always the last place for new ideas. https://slate.com/business/2017/12/dock-less-bike-share-is-ready-to-take-over-u-s-cities.html
