TKC WEDNESDAY NIGHT QUESTION: WOULD YOU LET KANSAS CITY POLICE SHARE ACCESS TO YOUR SECURITY CAMERA???

The Chief explains the latest community-outreach tech info sharing process in COMPREHENSIVE detail in his latest blog post . . .

Link. . .

KCPD: A simple way you can help solve and prevent crime in KC

Deets:

"The new WatchKC program allows residents and businesses to register with us that they have a security camera, and the address where it’s located. We’ll then put those locations on a map with each person’s contact information, and only specific investigative elements at KCPD will have access to that information. They will have no live access to the footage, but they will know where cameras are and whom to contact about possible recordings. Your registration information will be extracted from the submittal form and kept as secure as all other information maintained by KCPD."

And so . . .

WOULD YOU SIGN UP TO SHARE TECH INFO AND SPY CAM ACCESS WITH KCPD???

Why or why not???

Reading the entire post and how the program works I support it and would register if I had cameras

I have a big sister but not a big brother so maybe this would be good because I would feel more whole.

@8:39 I see what you did there and it's right.

This is A LOT Of trust to put into people. Here's a better question than TKC - Do you want the police having the ability to look at your house all of the time?

Most people support police but don't want to be police. It's important that there is a difference.

Here is the problem. If you decide that you don't want to be testifying about your security cameras every tine the cops make a case you are screwed. The cops will get a search warrant and come marching through your house and seize your video recorder and force you into shit you don't want to be involved with. So now we have gone from being protected by police to actually doing their damn jobs and having our lives jacked with. I suppose you could figure out a way to conceal your cameras so the cops don't know you have them OR you could encrypt the video so the cops cant access it, but it seems a damn shame that you just can not use your cameras for you own personal business and be left the fuck alone. I worked and spent my money for MY cameras - not their cameras.

Are they gonna pay me like crime watchers does for people who give tips? I’ll take ten thousand dollars for info every time something happens, why let the boons have all the money!
