SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS RAGE OVER TOY TRAIN STREETCAR JUNKET DESPITE VOTER FULL STOP!!!

Kansas City civic elite enjoy touting local transit/development while locals question their efforts given a recent voter crackdown.

Here's an important word from our blog community:

There is a national "Railvolution" conference this week in Denver, CO. In August, Kansas City voters said they didn't want the streetcar without CITYWIDE approval yet we see on social media that local streetcar officials folks are in attendance.

How much have KC taxpayers spent over the past 3 years sending staff to street car and rail conferences?

How come KC wins awards but isn't maintaining its shiny toy?

You decide . . .

  6. What they will see in Denver is a downtown section by all the hotels and Union Station called "The Mall." And it is about a two-mile long stretch of 16th Street with no car traffic allowed, but just has free buses running all day long for tourists. Yes, buses, not a streetcar. These are also buses designed inside like a streetcar for more standing room and less seats and lower entry floors, so people can hop on and off more easily. And they can reroute the free buses to 17th Street or 15th Street when there are other festivals, something that can't be done with a streetcar. The Mall is full of restaurants and other shops.

  10. Is Denver the city where you have to walk three blocks to change street cars? Very POOR design. Makes one hesitant to listen to anything that Denver says.
