Kansas City Clings To Startup Scene As Amazon HQ2 Bid Becomes More Unlikely

Actually, a pretty great rundown of our cowtown tech hype culture for those unlucky denizens whose career depends on the mastery of trendy Internets jargon. Take a look:

What Kansas City has to offer tech startups

It's easy to see why startup founders look to the coasts to raise venture capital or hire a star head of growth. Hollywood has misinformed the masses that startups don't exist outside of these ecosystems. The notion that founders need to migrate to the Valley in order to successfully build a technology company is long outdated.

You need to be connected to some local "family" with a lot money much of which goes to buying off local politicians to even have a shot at anything here.

Corruption, violence, lousy schools, robberies, sexual assaults, home invasions, junk infrastructure, garbaged up neighborhoods, etc.

You mean out of those 24 million people that pass through KC each year not a damn one of them drank the KC Kool Aide and wanted to open up a real business here? Imagine that. I guess they will just have to miss out on that high tech play for $15.00 to sack groceries and burgers.

please mention that kc is a science town, with many engineering firms, from giant to small, many research universities in the region, linda hall library, stowers basic research, agricultural research, biodefense in manhattan, and on and on.

the nascent hipster and urban culture is great, too.

amazon would get a gem by coming to kc, imho.

You would think the toy train with its 24 million visitors would be enough to attract anyone. Add the 1% city robbery tax... I mean earning tax and more people than ever would want to work here. With more people- the very high murder rate means your chances of getting murdered and killed as a percentage get lower. I am sure the grate quality public skools in Kanza shitty combined w Merry Sanshaz and the other Mensa Jelene Ostertag will make it eazy too wanna live hear.
Crazy pipe dream...crazy.

Silicon valley, along with the rest of the left coast is on the verge of imploding. Even Apple, with their flying saucer HQ will ultimately prove unsustainable.

People are moving away from both coasts because it's too expensive. It's not worth it.
