Former CFO pleads guilty to embezzling $6.5M from KC company - Kansas City Business Journal

Douglas Ferrell, who was CFO for Scarbrough International Ltd. in Kansas City, pleaded guilty to embezzling $6.5 million. Ferrell could get 30 years in federal prison without parole, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Missouri said in a Thursday release. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering.

Friends, loved ones mourning loss of well-known KCK restaurant owner shot outside Family Dollar

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Family members and friends are mourning a well-known KCK restaurant owner who was shot and killed just down the street from his business on Thursday afternoon. Those family members have identified the victim as Derrick Horton -- a husband and father of three young children.
