Jackson County Jail Crisis Gets Worse

The latest legal move in an ongoing litany of lawsuits that's threatening to bust the courthouse budget:

Additional charges filed, others indicted in bribery, smuggling scheme at Jackson County jail

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Additional charges have been filed against two corrections officers at the Jackson County Detention Center and three others were indicted by a federal grand jury related to conspiracies to smuggle contraband to inmates, according to a news release from Tom Larson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

  6. The Jackson County jail has been a hellhole for years. This is not new information. There are sexual assaults every night. Nobody cares. It is unfortunate, but true.

  7. 11:00 PM unfortunately when it comes to jails and prisons, John Q. Taxpayer doesn't give much attention to them.

    Hey look on the bright side, the prison conditions have to be ten times better then most other impoverished nations in this world.

    Don't do the crime and you won't do the time. Words of wisdom I thought I'd pass on.

  8. 6:35 And if you don't want to cost the taxpayers a fortune in lawsuits, don't run a county jail, where the people being held haven't been convicted, that is a hell hole.
