Broke-Ass Wentworth Can't Pay Bills

Examiner: Defunct Missouri academy can't pay faculty

Deets:

"A Missouri military academy and college that dated to 1880 before abruptly shuttering at the end of May can't afford to pay its faculty as previously promised, according to emails obtained by The Associated Press. The president and superintendent of what had been Wentworth Military Academy and College told faculty members by email May 16 that they would continue to get paid "as normal" until their contracts expire . . ."

Apparently, that didn't happen according to The Examiner and The AP.

  1. I suppose spoiled rich boys are now sent to counseling instead of a private school for delinquents.

Wentworth was not a private school for delinquents. It was not a school for rich boys, it also had girls. Some locals who were anything but rich went to Wentworth to learn social skills unlike your post. Just because a parent wants to send their kid to a private school doesn't mean they're spoiled or rich, you not only need to get your facts straight, but it sounds like you are the one who needs counseling!

  3. Wentworth themselves went on a recruiting drive a number of years ago touting themselves as a school for students which otherwise DO NOT function well in a traditional classroom setting. If that's not a school for delinquents (rich or poor) I don't know what is.

  4. We sent our son to Wentworth, and it was the best thing we ever did for him. He learned a lot of lessons. I will admit, he would have ended up in "the system" if we had not sent him there. Some kids just need to be taken by the scruff of their neck and shown what happens when you cannot "follow the rules". It cost a lot of money (about $20K per year), but how much should you pay to save a kid. The cost of lawyers fees, court costs, family counseling, and wrecked cars would be about the same. We solved the problem, and I am sorry that Wentworth is no longer available.

  5. Best thing about Wentworth was that they didn't accept blacks. Just didn't do it. Good policy for the rest of us if you ask me. Blacks are a blight on the planet. This is empirically indisputable by anyone with sanity.

  6. Too bad Wentworth isn't located in boon country or they could get millions to save the institution. But then how many young gentle giants want that kind of discipline and training?

  7. Hey 11:07, there were blacks there when our son attended. But the young men were all raised to be gentlemen. The young ladies were trained to be just that. I will always remember the military ball that was held in April with a Grand March. The girls were dressed gilttery gowns, the guys were in their military uniforms. It was wonderful and magical. I regret so much that they will not be there. I think that if Wentworth were nearer to KC or STL, they would have survived. They were in a little town that has nothing going for it, and that is too bad. Lots of young men (and young women) would benefit from the discipline and the education.
