TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! OPPONENTS: PETITION FOR NEW-SINGLE TERMINAL NO BID 'CORPORATE AIRPORT' CONTRADICTS KANSAS CITY CHARTER!!!

The real fight for a new airport in Kansas City isn't about convenience or adding capacity or modernizing facilities . . . It's nothing more than a money grab by some of the most powerful interests controlling the politics of this town.

To wit . . .

OUR KICK-ASS BLOG COMMUNITY BROKE NEWS OF A PETITION FILED TO THE PUT BURNS & MAC NO BID AIRPORT MOU ON THE BALLOT!!!

This morning . . .

THE NEW "CORPORATE AIRPORT" EARNS REBUKE FROM TOP ECHELON INSIDERS THROUGHOUT KANSAS CITY!!!

Here's the word:

"If this plan (from Burns & Mac) is put on the ballot and approved, then they can do whatever they want. Their interest is to make money and that'll mean higher fares, higher fees and higher costs for parking, food, transit to and from the airport and everything else. Literally, the sky is the limit. As for oversight, forget it. When Burns & Mac owns the airport, there is almost nothing KCMO can do to force accountability. KCI will become a corporate airport."

That concern resonates more than anything else we're hearing and also reminds locals that a NO-BID proposal potentially violates the City's Charter which mandates consideration for competitors on a project of this magnitude.

But here are just a few more concerns to consider as this new plan takes flight . . .

New KCI Corporate Airport Design Mystery

Has anybody seen any new designs for the single-terminal airport in the past few years???

While we respect the effort to try and build a better mousetrap . . . For all the cash that Burns & Mac is willing to invest in order to legally hijack the KC airport revenue, they clearly don't want to pay for designs that voters might reject before they're locked in . . . And the MOU gives final design approval to rubber-stamp politicos and not the voting public.

New Airlines Already Flocking To KCI

MCI has been reporting record breaking numbers for the past three years. There are more options for travelers now than in recent years and even more on the way . . . It seems that none of the airport constant complaints have impacted passenger counts.

The New Kansas City Corporate Airport STILL Has No Power To Cut Down Tragic TSA Long Lines

Here's an argument we won online because consultants and their mean tweets have attempted to mislead Kansas City voters . . .

Let's make this clear for the cheap seats:

THE KANSAS CITY NEW CORPORATE AIRPORT MIGHT STILL CONFRONT LONG SECURITY LINES BECAUSE OF THE TSA!!!

Neither the design nor the ownership have much power over federally mandated "security theater" that has been a nightmare in newer airports across the nation and really isn't so bad in Kansas City. Still, this bit of manufactured hype about a new airport alleviating long lines has been continually disproved but still rates a mention amid so much high flying rhetoric.

And so . . .

While wish Kansas City corporate airport petitioners the best of luck as these union dudes work on behalf of future bosses and sell out local voters.

Developing . . .

This kind of chaos is what we get because of Sly's bad planning. He had YEARS to unite Kansas City behind the best plan possible.

What did he do?

He treated voters like the enemy and planned a surprise attack that failed.

Now the airport is up for grabs and there is no clear, unifying vision for it's future.

Thanks Sly!

Leave the airport alone. Or just fix it.

Having a "private" airport sounds dangerous.

Well, everyone already knew Sylvester was stupid and dishonest. Now Burns & McDouche will be forever known as stupid and dishonest as well. Ok for a black politician but not ok in the corporate world. Greed has started the end of Burns & McDouche.

Sly will get what he wants! Hell, he even has the peckerwoods in this town trained not to vote.

Developer, re the 3100 blk of Troost: if the MAX and 31 bus stops aren't moved off the corner, "that neighborhood will be Section 8 forever"

what a farce.

only the outside counsel could rationalize the crony airport push.

it's been made to look more transparent but it or may not be in fact.

the local newspaper has articles but nothing in-depth on the financial aspects. too much trouble to investigate and write rigorously.

At this point, everyone would be better off voting NO across the board in November.

Save KCI!

Vote no on crony airport ripoff!

It looks like Tulsa Regional Airport. Too small.

This deal is already done. You'll learn some of the details but you won't know the half of it. KC continues to be insanely corrupt.

I thought Brownback was having a private airport built in JoCo, or was that just more bullshit?

"Neither the design nor the ownership have much power over federally mandated "security theater" that has been a nightmare in newer airports across the nation and really isn't so bad in Kansas City."

Anyone who believes that the inefficient and outdated design that results in the current KCI having seven security checkpoints for 30-something gates has no impact on how long it takes to get through security is kidding themselves. I wanna know who the two hot babes are!

KCI is faster, often much faster, than twenty newer airports we've been in over the past two years.

Travelers seem relaxed going through security at KCI. It's a more human-scale process.

Having just flown, mci felt better than other airport, no long jaunts, short relatively fast line
