TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS PERSIST: PETITIONS FOR PUBLIC VOTE ON DOWNTOWN HOTEL COMPLETE!!!

Grassroots local direct democracy in Kansas City strikes back this week as developer power moves might not be able to override voters.

Remember that council crafted a new "accelerated" ordinance that would prevent any referendum on the hotel by voters, but this effort challenges that city charter gambit.

Take a look:

HOTEL PETITIONS!

Monday afternoon, June 12th at 3 PM, CFRG will turn into the City Clerk an additional 2,876 referendum petition signatures to put the downtown convention hotel on the ballot. Last week some in the local media celebrated when the clerk reported the initial turn in was 604 signatures short. Phone lines lit up with voters wanting to know where they could sign the petition and how they could help.

Now with these 2876 additional signatures, we are 2,272 signatures over the number required by the City Charter. We are anxious for the City Council to affirm placement of this referendum on the November ballot in compliance with the Missouri Supreme Court’s recent decision on signature petitions.

Thanks to all who helped with this project. You have exercised your right to have a say in how the city spends $167,000,000 of your money.

Coffey and Murphy run risk of getting sued personally by developers for interfering with their project.
Hope so. Coffey must have inherited his huge house on Loose Park. He could lose it. Murphy is a posser who will not be able to afford legal representation.

9:36 is Mike Burke!!!

Who are you kidding ???

Citizens exercising their right to petition are not likely to be sued, and if you do, Mike, you will be subject to an " abuse of process" suit!!! If you had any money, you would lose it all !!!

No more tax dollars for Burke's Folly (scam)!!!
