Missouri has the second-largest number of racial terror lynchings among states outside of the South, according to new data released on Tuesday, June 27 by the Equal Justice Initiative, a private, nonprofit organization based in Montgomery, Alabama that provides legal representation to indigent defendants and prisoners who have been denied fair and just treatment in the legal system.

DeleteFrom the end of the Civil War, to 1864, there were right at 4,500 people lynched in the US. right at 3,000 were black and 1,500 were white. They were all accused of serious crimes. None received due process. The last negro lynched in Missouri, was in Maryville in 1948. He had raped (What a shocker.) a white woman and the folks up there were pretty upset.

The talk show queen and media mogul made her comments during the promotion of her new film, “The Butler,” about a black man who serves in that capacity through seven administrations at the White House.

I might add, that the movie, "The Butler" was an absolute fabrication that had ZE - fuckin -RO to do with reality.
The irony and hypocrisy of Oprah, telling us all we don't know "Diddly Squat" about history, after she makes a movie that claims to be accurate, in which, the main character has an imaginary son, who is a radical Black Panther type figure, when in fact, the man had no son and voted Republican is lost on True Believers.
By the way, the figures from many sources, are around 3500 to 4500 lynchings, hence the disparity in numbers here.
