KANSAS CITY POLICE AND NOVA CRACKDOWN AMID MURDER SPIKE 2017!!!

Here's a look at the latest plan to curb the climbing KCMO homicide rate as this Summer grows more deadly . . .

It's kinda like the "hotspot" policing idea but without the buzzwords, hype or high expectations . . .

Here's the new plan . . .

KCPD Chief: Additional resources deployed to areas experiencing violent crime, other factors

Here's the word . . .

KC Temp Chief's Blog: "Violent crime does not occur in a vacuum, so we are using intelligence information to deploy resources in an effort to address the myriad issues related to violent crime. This week, we began using officers in some of our more flexible units – Traffic Division, Special Operations Division and Violent Crimes Enforcement Division (the enforcement arm of the Kansas City No Violence Alliance) – to proactively patrol areas that we have identified as experiencing high levels of violent crime and other types of incidents.

"We’re recognizing that certain factors we may previously have thought were unrelated do play together. In areas where you find a lot of fatality traffic accidents and drug overdoses, you also find violent crime. We’re looking at numerous other factors, as well, including drive-by shootings, non-fatal shootings, homicides and more. Our Law Enforcement Resource Center is using that information to identify up to four relatively small geographic zones where additional officers are proactively patrolling and creating an increased, visible police presence . . ."

Read the whole thing.

And so . . .

WILL THE NEW POLICE CRACKDOWN EFFORT WORK TO CUT DOWN ON THE KANSAS CITY MURDER RATE ALREADY SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL???

You decide . . .

Have to wait and look at the numbers. Yes, hot spot was hype but it is better than doing nothing.

The judges need to be involved. It won't work if we're just putting them into a revolving door.

Majority of resources to a minority portion of the city to try and control black violence. Meanwhile the rest of you can go sit on it and twirl while waiting for your delayed police response to your call for help.

Hot Spots are a waste of time because those assignments come with NO direction on what the focus or goal of such is desired. All that gets accomplished is 16 hours of manpower & a tank of gas are consumed.

Go back to the late '80's where the Tac Units were told to go out & take care of business. Today's Units, department wide, are too busy training for "the big one," keeping them off the streets. Believe me, the Tac Units can handle anything you throw at them, so put them on the streets with one edict . . . Prevent crime or capture those that insist on committing said crime.

We need new judges and someone to replace Jean Perersucker Baker

Apart of you wants to say this looks like great news while the other part of you says I know when I see PR crap.

Shifting some officers around isn't going to stem the killing rate or slow up the violent crime. As for intelligence information one has to laugh at even seeing the word intelligence being used by a ranking officer on the department. Just last week I saw a group of four officers running some kind of a traffic enforcement on the downtown loop. I think was a double white line ticket party myself. One office was all that was needed for that dog and pony show.

Hard core street stops looking at anything that is suspicious, pulling over cars and doing pedestrian checks while doing it right and making arrests.

Cops need to get mean with thugs and the courts need to do the same. Till that happens all we will see is circle jerk press releases like this.

Agree with Dave.
Those idiots in KCPD Media must be working overtime on crack.
Just a few weeks ago they were announcing how safe KCMO was.

They leave out the thing that is in high crime areas the most: black people.

I want to see the maps.
the new interim chief says it's "fluid" and can change in 72 to 96 hours. doubtful, except by a block or two.

That's just PR speak for not redlining an area as a Hot Spot.

Publish the maps every 72 hours, do an overlay, and let's see where they are beefing up the patrols.

Tony, this weekend, I blieve you cited that 85% of the murders occured within a 60 block area. We know that is East of Troost.

My next question is, of the other 15%, where did the murderer sleep at night? I'd say "reside" but we all know that is a dodgy term with welfare moms not willing to admit their man lives in the home.

I call on TKC to have some leadership of volunteers who take on Map.The.Hot.Spots.

Thank you,

No blacks, know peace.

Know blacks, no peace.

It's not going to do any good. They will move to another location. Cops won't win until they can get super mean and the pussy judges get of their lazy asses and start giving out big time.

Anonymous said...

Actually, in the area they are focusing on, I wouldn't care if there were 1000 murders this year.

Anonymous said...

Missouri needs to change tbe corrupt way judges are put on place. We need judges who run on a platform and are elected by the people, not appointed and then run against no one

Silverback Sly said...

I'm sorry but the range and scope of where the murders are occurring is no small area, its quite spread across

Silverback Sly said...

In sorry but in the criminal mind set the length of the jail sentence isn't gonna matter one bit.

6:22 there's one flaw in your way of thinking for you sir--if you if you don't care that there are 1000 people killed in the area that they are focusing on. that one very small area.. think about this and believe it ..if that actually did happen in that one small area , your area with see 50 killings, believe it, it's true , Barney badass

Don't blame KCPD, Blame the judges, they are the ones letting these guys out over and over.

Don't forget how much our prosecutor contributes to the high crime rate with plea bargains and probation. Jean Petersucker Baker

Dave and 3:59 are so spot on ! Let the cops , detectives , and investigators do their job without interference from the shit hole KILLA CITY politicians ! All starts with a strong mayor and a no bullshit chief of police , neither of which we have had in KILLA CITY for far too many metrosexual hood rats years ¡!

How's sending in a bunch of traffic officers on evening shift and increasing their stop quota to 120 gonna help? It's definitely it going to build trust with the community and goes against the plan of not stopping law abiding citizens and citing them for minor traffic violation.

Matter of fact I am and I'd love to see you in the street sometime, ya punk bitch.I'd kick your ass so hard you'd choke on them baby balls..you wanna know real pain ? Step to the right cop and say some shit like that, squirrel nuttz.you won't, because you're just so much meaner online, huh....bitch

Anonymous said...

Sly James, our black mayor, apparently doesn't care how many blacks kill other blacks. Then why should I care?

Anonymous said...

If you are a cop, you are a joke.

Anonymous said...

How about these intelligent NOVA officers work the violent areas...or even weekends and nights when these violent crimes occur. You people continue to bitch about the crime rate but continue to re-elect the same judges. This isn't a new fad in KC.

9:01pm-If you are actually a PD employee making documented and public threats of bodily harm, you aren't the person for that job. Did you consider being reported by anyone who reads that mess? GPS and data collection is in virtually all consumer tech for years now...burn phones, too.
