Here's a minor quibble among Kansas City white guys about the particulars of local corporate welfare . . .
Show-Me: SUBSIDIES, NOT STREETCARS, LURE DEVELOPERS
Fact is, the TDD is an oasis of taxpayer subsidy and virtual free-for-all when it comes to City Hall giveaways that have done very little to benefit ANYONE who isn't part of the politicos and consultants touting the money train line.
Developing . . .
The streetcar people no longer hype economic development and jobs as streetcar benefits. Now all the hype is about their phony ridership numbers.
ReplyDeleteI saw the numbers this week and called bullshit as well. However, they say that the POS makes about 600 runs out week. So they are saying that the at a price of free, they are only getting less than 10 riders per run. This wasn't a proud boast, it was a plea for help.
DeleteIf the trolley benefits developers, then they should be paying for it.
ReplyDeleteToot toot. Pay me. Ka-ching! Clunk.
