TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! MIDTOWN HOLY WAR: KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXPANSION TAXES THREATEN CHURCHES!!!

FIRST and before anybody else in Kansas City . . . Our blog community talked about rising streetcar taxes that pose a threat to a beloved local church . . .

Now more religious groups are expressing their concern. Checkit:

KSHB: Churches fight assessment fee for streetcar Some churches along the proposed streetcar route are concerned they won't be available to afford a yearly assessment fee.

And so . . .

IS STREETCAR EXPANSION A THREAT TO KANSAS CITY FAITH COMMUNITIES?!?!

Or is this simply the cost of progress and a sign of this development initiative trumping local faith life???

You decide . . .

  1. I rent an apartment on the route and my landlord told us our rents will go up if this vote passes. Get a ballot and vote NO...

  2. Is there a federal or state agency that can look into this "vote"?

  3. Oh, and just in case anyone hasn't noticed, the much faster Max bus runs the same route as the slow half-billion streetcar and much more, all the way to Waldo. And it won't raise your taxes. But local media is too lazy to report on that.

    ^^You're pathetic.^^

These churches ARE the community, unless you believe their congregates drive in from Kansas to attend services. The mega-churches, & televangelists, have abused their special tax privileges, but not the little churches. As an atheist, for the sake of the community, I think that their tax debt to the city should be forgiven.

Streetcar doesn't care about churches or neighborhoods or anybody but their development fees. That's the way it started and how it continues.

  10. Wonder how the churches downtown have stayed in business, then? 3 or 4 new ones even opened...

  11. These streetcar creeps have NO idea of altruistic, egalitarian, or spiritual endeavors of any kind. They are the carrion feeders who only talk of sustainability when it sustains them and their hobbies.
