TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! FIGHT AGAINST KANSAS CITY AIRPORT NO-BID BURNS & McDONNELL SINGLE-TERMINAL SCHEME TAKES OFF!!!

City Hall meetings start to get serious this week as a $2.5 BILLION corporate giveaway threatens the future of Kansas City.

To wit . . .

SET A COURSE FOR INTENSE DEBATE AS KANSAS CITY AIRPORT TAKES OFF!!!

PR coverage and a great deal of corporate hype are pushing the plan to hand over the airport to one of the biggest companies in town . . .

Here is their reasoning "A privately financed airport terminal. KCI airport would receive financing through private investment, paid for by airport usage fees, with no funds coming from the City's general fund, new taxes, or existing bonds."

Take a look at a promo clip for this effort produced with local taxpayer money:

The run-up to the debate has seen Mayor Sly making threats, forgoing community discussion that was promised and basically playing pitch man for some of his biggest campaign donors . . .

A glimmer of hope . . .

KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS PLAN PROTEST AGAINST THE NO-BID CORPORATE AIRPORT PLAN!!!

Here's the bulletin sent out locals today . . .

"Do you like the convenience and flexibility of KCI?? Then here’s your chance to give City Hall your opinion. Tomorrow The Mayor and selected City Council Members will begin to push the Burns & McDonnell single terminal plan. The effort to rush this by council members is troubling. I would hope the council would protect themselves and ask for a more thought out approach where there is time for questions and perhaps opposing presentations. As far as we no there is no plan just a push. If you are able to attend tomorrows meeting, please do so. If not please call your council person and share your concerns with them."

The City Hall manifest . . .

  1. All of those protesters against trump should look at the corrupt way that Kansas City really does busienss if they are upset about how politics work. This is one of the biggest payoffs in local history, hope that the insider deal is exposed even further. Sad to see my newspaper go along with it.

    1. Isn't bid rigging contrary to the municipal code? The mayor of Detroit went to jail for something similar.

    2. You raised one good point here, probably by accident.

Why is City Hall committing video services to benefit an international corporation worth billions of dollars?

It seems like they should have in-house services to promote their own projects, why should City Hall money be spent to make Burns & Mac commercials?

  4. We could have financed this the normal way, with competitive bids, but the Ward Parkway reactionaries fucked it up so they could see their names in the paper.

  6. Shouldn't the city wait until the state audit of the water department occurs? Blues and McDouche is heavily involved in that wonder. It's kinda like giving someone a lifetime goodie award when they're twenty, only to find out they marry their cousin and they have oxy babies within the next three years. If there's good news, it's that B&McD doesn't seeem to have paid off every councilperson yet...

  7. The sad fact is the average voter has no way of knowing what the truth is. The so called civic leaders always support any project that lines their pockets, our elected leaders are as corrupt as they are stupid and we have no independent news media.

Therefore liberals who always believe in more government will support almost any project while conservatives who question all government spending will mostly be against projects. Since there is no truthful debate and liberals outnumber conservatives in KCMO the city will continually be looted.

  8. Sylvester James is OBVIOUSLY CORRUPT and pushing hard to reward his political contribution paymaster Burned and McManaged.

Jolie Justus is a STUPID, CORRUPT, political HACK who was all to eager to fall in line behind James because she thinks she'll be Mayor one day.

Quinton Lucas admitted on a Tuesday radio interview that he's supporting this airport giveaway. Lucas is a SHALLOW, PONTIFICATING WINDBAG who is NOT a reformer at all, but a complete STATUS QUO YES MAN for the business/developer class.

We know with certainty that Scott Taylor is in the pocket of developers and cozy with Burned and McManaged. Just examine his campaign contribution disclosures and how he shakes down everyone involved in development projects.

This proposed MOU between KCMO and Burned and McManaged is ILLEGAL, ANTI-COMPETITIVE, representative of the worst type of CRONYISM, contaminated by the existing money relationship between James and Burned and McManaged, and puts KCMO at risk for LOSING THEIR AIRPORT.

  9. U-Haul released its annual Top 10 U.S. Destination City list, and Kansas City ranked No. 9, based on the number of arriving one-way U-Haul truck rentals in 2016.

Why don't you bitches take these U-Hauls to Desoto?

  10. The boondoggle that is the proposed convention center hotel includes provisions for the project to be the EXCLUSIVE caterer for all convention center events. This was done to guarantee another stream of income for the already heavily subsidized project. Mike Burke, Sylvester James, Troy Schulte, and the Council thought that DISCRIMINATING against existing KC businesses for the benefit of non-resident hotel investors was a good thing.

The boondoggle MOU between Burns and McDonnell and KCMO for a new airport terminal includes language that Burns and McDonnell would have the EXCLUSIVE right to ALL airport development projects for the next 30-35 years or longer. NOT just the terminal project, ALL projects!
Burns and McDonnell gets all the money from airport operations, while KCMO has to pay for operations and maintenance. The airport becomes a BIG FINANCIAL DRAIN on KCMO for the next 30-35 years or longer.
The city and Burns and McDonnell will raise prices to the maximum level for those using the airport according to the MOU.

What happens if the Burns and McDonnell separate legal entity "Terminal Developer LLC" tears down the existing terminal structure and there's a financial crisis precipitating their investors to fail or pull out of the project? KCMO is placing their airport at high risk to reward a wealthy private company that has already given generously to Mayor James, and received a new city-financed headquarters expansion in return.

  11. Listen peasants! Sly will have it exactly the way he wants it and if you don't like it roll over on the other cheek of your fat peckerwood as and moan some more. He knows you apathetic sloths are going to do absolutely nothing just like you always do.

  12. IF this was such a "surprise" that they had to rush to hold a press conference last week because the Star had found out about it, does that mean that they were not planning on saying ANYTHING until the Council meeting tomorrow? The dates in the MOU lead to no other conclusion.

  13. Wait a second more cities than Kansas City use this airport. Why is Sly deciding this for ALL of us!!!!!!

This is, however, the true elites in action, and he's not one of them.

The $$$ for the big guys will leave some crumbs, but it won't take much. This is big-boy poker.
