Mayor Sly's Sneaky Kansas City New Airport NO-BID CORRUPTION Sours Progress

Selling the idea of a new airport is harder when the process has been fraught with duplicitous words and deeds of a politico looking out for the best interests of his pals above voters. Take a look:

Critics' main KCI plan complaint: 'It's being railroaded' - Kansas City Business Journal

But during the event, hosted at the Kansas City Airport Marriott by a joint City Council committee, it became clear that the longstanding desire to preserve the in-and-out convenience of KCI's current three-terminal layout no longer is the public's overriding concern.

  2. The Business Journal, the KC Star, the unions, the business leaders are all in favor of Burns & Mac's plan. The fix is in and always has been. Some unnamed entity paid for AvAirPros, a consulting firm, to give the city the information they desired. Supposedly the consultant asked the airlines (mainly Southwest) what they wanted in facilities. Well sure, they were going to ask for the moon and stars. Why not? The consultant rejected another plan by Crawford & Associates to renovate rather than replace. Said the airlines didn't want it. Not true.

You're on to something for sure.
In fact, KCMO is regularly cited as the fifth WORST-RUN city in the country, year after year.
But with the debt being accrued and the mindless spending on glamor and legacy projects that do nothing for the people who actually live here, and the underhanded way many of the decisions are being made and the spending is being done, KC might very well move up the "Worst" list.
And don't forget that the city has one-third the number of murders as New York City year after year, even though NYC has a population almost nine times as great.
It's amazing how much money you can spend and how much you can ignore the interests of residents when your priorities are so consistently upside down.
Just keep electing the same kinds of folks and they're sure to keep up the "good" work.
    Frosty.

  5. This is another sneaky, back-room deal just like that stupid street car. Beware citizens, we'll end up paying for this airport debacle regardless of what Sly, Burns and MacDonnell, or anyone else says. Vote against it in November.
