Steel plates covered a nearly 15-foot-deep hole Sunday that swallowed a van driving down an alley in Kansas City's Northeast area a day earlier. The incident happened about 11 a.m. Saturday in an alley near St. John and Bales avenues.
There are no ribbon cutting ceremonies for this sort of thing. Why would the city take an interest?
