TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE FRANK WHITE SILENCE ON JAIL CRISIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Jackson County Executive Frank White started his political career by capitalizing on his connection to the Kansas City Royals during their historic World Series run. However, since his election he has failed to prove himself adept at any function of local government beyond mere ceremony. Worst of all, his focus on the more frivolous duties of his office has coincided a horrific array of alleged human rights abuses and reports of horrific living conditions at the jail for which he is ultimately responsible.

Accordingly . . .

KANSAS CITY POLITICOS, MEDIA AND CIVIC ELITE HAVE GIVEN EXEC FRANK WHITE A PASS ON SERIOUS COUNTY CONCERNS FOR FAR TOO LONG BECAUSE OF HIS BASEBALL GLORY DAYS AND POPULARITY!!!

Public love and devotion to politicos is always grossly overstated and, like it or not, the Royals are now slumping and the County Executive job is about more than ribbon cutting or posing for pictures.

Quick review:

This week separate lawsuits from County inmates claim sewage frequently backed up in their cells and the stench was so intense at times that they could not sleep.

A former Jackson County Corrections Officer has been accused of raping a female inmate.

Four former corrections officers at the Jackson County Detention Center have been indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in a conspiracy to physically assault an inmate in violation of his Constitutional protection against unreasonable force.

Meanwhile . . .

EXECUTIVE FRANK WHITE HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS OR ANSWER THESE LAWSUITS OR PUBLIC CONCERN OVER THE CRISIS AT THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL IN ANY SIGNIFICANT WAY!!!

Our blog community recently noted that a report which was commissioned on the crisis has yet to be released to the public. The Exec has effectively dodged most questions from the media and there's not really much talk of this ongoing debacle during meetings of the Legislature.

And here's where things get interesting . . .

JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS REVEAL THAT THE LAWSUITS ARE GOING TO KEEP ON COMING AS THE PROBLEMS AT THE JAIL REMAIN UNSOLVED!!!

Many of the faulty locks that facilitated so many innate problems have yet to be fixed, there hasn't been any significant repair of sewer problems and, again, investigation and reporting promised by the Exec hasn't been shared.

What's worse is that Kansas City media is content to let the County Executive live off his baseball glory days from long, long ago while inmates remain at risk and the jail is now one of the worst liabilities for the Courthouse and taxpayers.

  1. You may not like this TKC, but this is why KCMo NEEDS a real newspaper. It's good that you rounded up some of the coverage and reminded people of what's going on, but it takes a real newspaper to do the work of investigation and reporting that's not happening right now.

The star isn't going to do it because their financial fate is connected to property tax assessments from Jackson County. TV stations do their best but this stuff doesn't exactly drive ratings..

the pitch is just struggling to stay alive.

So what we're left with is a figurehead as the executive who doesn't have much interest in his job.

  2. A few more million dollar settlements and when people see their property tax bills, they might start to ask more about the problem.

  3. Did frank even have a challenger for election? Or were people too involved in the trump hillary debates?

  6. Major Jackie Robinson, no joke that is his real name.

  7. White will go down as the laziest and worst CE in history. He is destroying the county.

  8. for once, you can actually blame it on "White Privilege

only this "White" gets the privilege by being a black Democrat.

  9. White's chief problem is Caleb Clifford. The guy is an incompetent disloyal piece of crap. He spends his time screwing with people rather than trying to run the county. He's incompetent and evil. So he fits right in with a lot of the trolls at the county.

  10. It's too bad that Jackson County doesn't have a legislature so that other elected officials can provide some direction, oversight, and accountability for important county responsibilities.
    Oh, wait!
    Really?

  12. This is why the KC Star sucks. You wont find info like this there. Same thing with local news. Its a joke when it comes to covering real situations in our city.

  13. No leadership from Slie or JaCo Clowncil members to help any Killa City folks in the Jail.
The lack of leadership in KC/JaCo will only increase problems of crime and blight.
Will Mike Burke commit to help this "imperative" of poor housing?
Will tourism decline as KC's reputation spreads nationally?

  14. His honeymoon is over

  15. Money to fix locks was approved by the Legislature. Where was it actually spent?
The JC Regional Corrections administration will not answer any questions. The longtime bookkeeper keeps herself well away from the auditors.
Frank White hasn't fired the top corrections staff.
    Frank White is stupid.

CALL IN THE STATE AUDITOR AND STATE ATTORNEY NOW.

Frank White, you are disgraceful to the core.

  16. Why does Caleb Clifford conduct County business using a private email a la Hillary (Biggest Loser) Clinton?
