TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY STREETCAR DOUBLES DOWN ON FAKE NEWS RIDERSHIP STATS AMID EPIC TOY TRAIN PUSH TOWARD TWO MILLION IMAGINARY PASSENGERS!!!

Kansas City has a counting problem and a lack of transparency and oversight is making things worse as social media cheerleading substitutes for real local governance.

To wit . . .

THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CLAIMS TWO MILLION RIDERS DESPITE STATS THAT DON'T MATCH BIGGER, BETTER CITIES!!!

Here's a quick comparison for locals who aren't on the streetcar payroll and want to garner a bit of perspective:

KC Streetcar = 6,800 daily riders
Seattle = 2,419 daily riders
Washington DC = 2,285 daily riders
Dallas = 300 daily riders
Atlanta = 1,000 daily riders
Salt Lake City = 1,000 daily riders
Cincinnati = 1,664 daily riders

Meanwhile, locals are supposed to believe that MMA fighting on Easter weekend inspired toy train winning:

"2nd highest #kcstreetcar ridership day so far...14,965 on Sat, 4/15/17. Thank you, Kansas City!"

Never mind that local small Downtown biz receipts don't seem to reflect this uptick in Downtown tourism given by the meager increases in local job growth numbers.

Forget that most of the development along the streetcar line is also taxpayer subsidized.

And we'll pretend not to notice all of the empty storefronts along Main St. along with continued small biz controversy over parking slap fights with horrible tourists . . .

But here's the fact that stings even worse than most of the nation waking up to this scam . . .

OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY HAS PERFORMED A RIDERSHIP COMPARISON WITH SIX DIFFERENT CITIES AND FOUND KANSAS CITY NUMBERS SUSPECT!!! MEANWHILE, STREETCAR CHEERLEADERS DEMAND PUBLIC TRUST BASED ONLY ON TWEETS!!!

Juxtaposition: Kansas City still touts a 24 million annual tourist count that defies reality.

And once again, an army of supporters on the payroll propagates this myth while taxpayers across KCMO are expected to pick up the tab for a tourist adventure mostly built around hype.

You decide . . .

  1. If tweets are good enough for our President. Who are we to question their validity?

    2. Credit the numbers to better placement. It may seem incongruous for KC to have better numbers than cities with bigger populations but we have a lot of planning and time then went into the establishment of our streetcar. We have supported the streetcar with a great deal of promotion and support from all of our community.

      This is a great success and two million riders shows the demand for the service to continue.

      There might be concerns about the election process but let's look at the result. KC has a great streetcar that puts us at the forefront of transit in the United States. We are leading the nation with our efforts an that deserves commendation, not nitpicking.

      While, I believe in free speech, I also think there should be an effort to have KC government monitor and correct information like this that puts official numbers in doubt. We are rebuilding downtown with our streetcar and can't risk stopping the progress.

      All of KC should support the streetcar an the extension! Don't slow down our momentum, don't stop Kansas City progress!

    3. "the forefront of transit in the US"??? In 1920 maybe. Slow down on the kool-aid.

  3. I can only hope that these fake numbers are reported by better national media sources that the Mayor's office doesn't control.

    The KC Star is no longer an option.

  4. With 65,000 visitors per day, the streetcar ridership should be a lot higher..

  5. Did you know that Tuesday is often considered the most productive work day in the United States?

    I may not agree with you, but I'm glad you're making streetcar consultants earn their big, fat checks.

  6. If you don't count the hobo riders, the numbers are consistent with the other markets.

    I'm sure that Seattle, DC, Dallas, Atlanta, SLC and Cincy will agree with 9:38 that they are all stupid and that we are the only city in the country with people smart enough to properly place century-old technology.

  7. I can promise you that there is no way KC's numbers are above Seattle's. Absolute horseshit! Oh ye suckers!

    ReplyDelete
  8. "Forefront of transit in the United States"?
    Regularly the fifth worst-run city in the US and with fully one-third the number of murders as New York City.
    Not to mention the 11% sales tax and excess taxes on rental cars and hotels.
    Nor the cost of water and sewer services.
    More Kool Aid, please!
    Hahahahahaha!!!

  9. I was having lunch in City Market yesterday. As I looked out the window and saw the streetcar pass by several times, it was virtually empty the entire lunch hour. Maybe 3 or 6 passengers on each car. The numbers the city reports are completely fake. We need an independent audit of ridership numbers, not one by the city.

  10. AS ALWAYS TONY, WE'LL DIE OF OLD AGE WAITING FOR YOU TO PROVE YOUR CLAIMS.

  11. Scumbag sly will lie , he doesn't give a fuck about transportation, any way to funnel money out to his buddies,,, while the rest of kcmo is Mogadishu, a 2 mile stretch is a billion dollar Disneyland, oh u will pick up the tab later

  12. I saw a guy on the train talking to five people and there was no one around, so it's possible we're not considering other dimensions in the toy train Tally?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Way past times for an outside audit of the KCMO streetcar mess. This would give taxpayers a true picture of ridership which is probably around a couple of hundred per day.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I guess if they finally build a bullet train to connect cities then maybe a 19th Century Rail System like Downtown would link up?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Could it be that the difference in ridership numbers is because KC does not charge for the service and the other cities do? Perhaps those numbers are more reflective of what KC's streetcar ridership will look like when they start charging for the service.

  16. If the guy doing the counting also depends on the streetcar to have a job there is the answer.

  17. I was having lunch in City Market yesterday. As I looked out the window and saw the streetcar pass by several times, it was virtually full the entire lunch hour. Maybe 30 or 60 passengers on each car. The numbers the city reports are completely real, since no one can offer any evidence to the contrary and are not in a position to do so, only make wild baseless claims. We don't need an independent audit of ridership numbers.

      Get Mayor Bullhorn another shoeshine. In the meantime, we have a right to verify the ludicrous claims.

    I saw the streetcar during the weekend. I was making love to Candice Swanepoel by the window of my riverfront condo. Between her screams of pleasure, I noticed the streetcar was full with 150 people on every car each time it passed by. I noticed the number because Candice invited over Nina Agdal so that she wouldn't be dehydraded during our love making sessions.

    Also, the Easter bunny was giving away 100 dollar bills.

    But it's not all good news Tony, as I limped away during the night because my 13-inch penis was sore from a full day of super model action, I noticed that Jack the ripper was one of the passengers aboard the streetcar too.

    I drive a Lamborghini so I wasn't too concerned. KC is the future.

  20. ^^^^^^bwahahahahahahaha Jack the Ripper seen rigging the streetcar ridership numbers as well as causing the produce shortage at rivermarket and decapitating women at the plaza art fair!!!

  21. Was it David Johnson or Sly that said 'If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed'?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tony has has fans who are following his words, that's fine. What I don't like is that they're getting paid to do this job by City Hall. No less than three Mayoral assistants assigned to this blog. What a waste.

    Fix the potholes, replace the streetlight and get out of the social media business.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So interesting, but what do Toni Bones and Tracy Thomas think about it?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Super Dave busted the cities numbers after a two or more day study. The truth will never be heard coming from Sly.

  25. Gotta remember whats down at KCMO City Hall, they can't count anyhow, most barely speak fluent English (Ebonics).

    KCMO nothing but Degenerate Deadbeats from the Hood, Govt. Welfare leeches !!!

  26. Kansas City: Murderous gangbangers blowing holes in people every night, utterly corrupt city officials conjuring up 24 million annual tourists and gazillions flocking to ride a two-mile trolley that doesn't go anywhere. Widespread flooding every time it rains. What a shithole our town is.

  27. WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

    Why won't the toy train hipsters not ride it LIKE I DON'T!?!?!

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
