By 8 p.m., showers and storms will become more scattered across the viewing area and are expected to be reaching the metro by 9 p.m.

An accident Thursday night at the intersection of Eighth Street and Kansas Avenue temporarily disabled traffic lights for about 30 minutes and resulted in a road closure that lasted nearly an hour. Garden City police reported that a 2001 Chevy Tracker was northbound on Eighth Street at about 5:48 p.m.
