NO CLOSURE AFTER 1988 KANSAS CITY FIREFIGHTER DEATHS & LEGAL DRAMA

A horrific moment in Kansas City history still resonates as the effort to bring "closure" to families didn't work amid lingering questions about the rush to conviction based on sketchy jail house testimony. Here's an important insight on the case from a victim of the tragedy aftermath:

Son of Fallen KC Firefighter Speaks Publicly About Doubts Over Trial

All James and Tracy Kilventon want is for justice to finally be done. After almost 30 years of investigations, a trial, guilty verdicts, unsuccessful appeals and continuing questions, they say, justice still eludes them. But the recent release of one of the defendants convicted in the 1988 death of James Kilventon's father and five other Kansas City firemen has emboldened the Kilventons to go public.

Good for them. A truly brave and decent thing to due -- worthy of a brave father!

These convictions have always stunk to high heaven.  They are a textbook example of law enforcement misconduct and prosecutorial abuse.  the Feds manipulated witnesses as shamelessly as they -- still -- manipulate the poor families of the victims as props.  I doubt there is a member of the legal community who actually thinks the five were guilty -- but the Feds have to pretend that they do, lest they admit to the ultimate corruption:  Prosecuting the innocent for PR purposes.  And thereby assuring that the guilty parties are never punished.

Nice comment, Phil.I hung out with one of the guys that was convicted. He's still in prison. This case does and always did stink.anyone with a brain knows all five-if any- weren't guilty. The latter being my belief, all along.I'm not saying they were salt of the earth, but they surely didn't deserve to be wronly condemned forever.plus like you say,the real perps will never face justice, now, even if they do decide to let them go free someday, soon,I hope
