TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY PASSES MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE!!! MEANWHILE, MISSOURI LEGISLATURE MOVES FORWARD WITH BILL TO BLOCK!!!

Looming threats to crackdown on municipal minimum wage increases from the Missouri legislature did not dissuade City Council today in a historic vote that approved a controversial ordinance.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY FAIR WAGE FIGHTERS WIN ANOTHER ROUND WITH TODAY'S PAY RAISE SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 2017!!!

Sponsored by Council Members Quinton Lucas, Teresa Loar and Alissia Canady here's what was approved . . .

170193: Enacting a new Article IV, Chapter 38, Code of Ordinances, entitled “Minimum Wage” to establish a municipal minimum wage of $8.50 per hour on September 18, 2017, to increase that municipal minimum wage to $13.00 per hour by January 1, 2023, to be increased or decreased by the cost of living January 1, 2024 and each year thereafter; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

Meanwhile, the Missouri House just approved a bill blocking STL, KC and any other Show-Me State towns from raising the minimum wage.

Long story short . . . This is another court fight coming up in Missouri with opponents of the higher minimum wage increase already confronting an earlier defeat in the state Supreme Court.

  1. Good work council. You listened to your voters in the city and on the streets rather than social media comments.

    2. Excellent point @6:08 - this needed to be given a chance before voters. These council members did not act in good faith, they took the word of activists rather than their constituents.

    3. Subhuman chimping nigger ground apes just want a pawout. Just BEING niggers and at apeployment where the subhuman chimping nigger ground apes can chimp and party with other subhuman chimping nigger ground apes ferally is supposed to be enough for the niggerbeast pawout.

Raising minimum wage to minigmum wage for subhuman chimping nigger ground apes is harmful in that human high school kids are priced so high the independent hardware store can't pay a high schooler to push a broom and stock, and then it tells subhuman chimping nigger ground apes that those are worth so much money & that those are precious and unique snowflakes. When in reality those dumb and dangerous animals are purely just mulenostril chimping nigger ground apes that are subhuman.

  2. Waste of time. Most voters have no interest in this and the state legislature has the right idea. It's bad legislation.

  3. It's a dollar. If KC business can't afford a buck, they shouldn't be in business. Shame on snowflake business people who oppose this.

  4. I have to wonder how many of the people bashing the increase actually own or operate a business. Other than bar and restaurant staff, there really is no need to pay someone less than $9.50 (yes thats higher than the $8.50) I have a staff that fluctuates between 20 and 30 and I couldn't fathom paying them $7.50.

  11. This is the way that Kansas City went bankrupt. If this thing stands then small business has no reason to stay on this side of the State Line. Thanks a lot Council!

  15. Stick a fork in KC, we're done.

But will the new convention hotel pay these wages? Hard to imagine housekeepers and busboys making this kind of money. It's a recipe for disaster.

  16. Why is this being treated as bad news? I look forward to ordering for kiosks and placing mobile orders rather than dealing with all those surly shitbags who hate to be bothered with doing their jobs.

Here are the opponents of working people in KC. It is our duty to vote them out of office and reject them,

James voted against the ordinance, as did Dan Fowler, Heather Hall and Scott Wagner.

Get busy and find opposition to throw out these greedy politicians.

  23. Just pay them the $8.50 per hour. If that employee is still there by 2022, which in all probability they won't be, let them go and avoid the jump to $13.00 per hour. That's how businesses will get around this bs

  25. Heather Hall could've singlehandedly killed this today by voting on the motion to advance. I'm shocked she voted yes when she clearly doesn't support it.

  27. Not sure why opponents want to keep people in low paying jobs. you should not have to n=be on welfare when working 40 hours a week. And the more people earn, the more stable thye are and the more they spend.
What i don't like are councilmen who skip meetings--where was Jolie J? Hiding?

  28. Looks like the unschooled mooching dregs are out in force. Come out to the county business we appreciate what you do out here. Fuck Kansas City. It is the city of pick pockets. They don't bring a fucking thing to the party, but they will sure drain the life out of you.

  29. I wonder how many of these economic geniuses ever had a business or even grasp the challenges. Seems like all they know is the old libtard trick of being experts at how to spend someone else's money. If you want to make more shitflakes get an education, get skills and get a job that matches those skills. If you are going to stay on your fat ass, not motivate and continue to work in ni skill jobs then you deserve no skill wages. That is how the fucking cow eats the cabbage folks. Quit fucking mooching and motivate your fat asses. What balls to think you deserve something for achieving nothing.
