TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! HISTORIC NORTHEAST RESIDENTS LAUNCHING PETITION DRIVE AGAINST KANSAS CITY UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT!!!

The ongoing battle against gentrification and City Council approved land-grabbing continues to inspire opposition in Kansas City neighborhoods.

Here's a quick preview at the next chapter in the urban core development debate after a controversial decision from Council . . .

"Historic KC and a coalition of HNE residents are exploring the idea of gathering signatures to begin an referendum petition in opposition to the ordinance approving KCU's MPD.

More conversation on the topic . . .

That would force a halt to the Kansas City University Master Plan. If all the signatures are valid and there are enough, the process would stop for 30 days while an additional 3400 signatures are sought to force an item on the ballot. We should know in a couple of days. Once again, if the Council won’t listen to the people, or, enforce its own ordinances, it’s up to the voters to take action. Without this ground up action the creation of an Historic District in Kansas City will be meaningless.

Developing . . .

  2. It seems progress is once again in jeopardy. God forbid we clear slums in exchange for a vibrant, safe university campus.

  5. Progress. LOL. Who do you think will want to live in that neighborhood when all the beautiful, historic character is gone? This decision was bad for everyone in the long run.
