ST. PATRICK'S DAY 2017 AMID U.S. IMMIGRATION AND DEMOCRATIC PARTY CRISIS: KANSAS CITY CELEBRATES LOCAL IRISH TRADITIONS AND CONTRADICTIONS!!!
As always, we take just a moment on St. Paddy's Day to remind all of our readers that . . .
We love the Irish because they're living proof that white supremacy is a myth.
Moreover, people with a real appreciation of American and Irish history take just a moment today to remember that some Irish actually took up arms against the U.S. as the legacy of the San Patricios is often forgotten.
Still today shouldn't be about pointless revelry despite the fact that Mayor Sly enjoyed quite a bit of love at the parade, getting out of his car to shake hands with the St. Paddy's Day parade crowd . . . Mostly visiting from JoCo . . .
Those with even a cursory knowledge of Kansas City history realize that the Irish roots of this town culminated in the days of Boss Tom Pendergast as the local Irish ran a political and crime syndicate that defined our city's glory days. Like it or not, the legacy of this KCMO political foundation endures despite uncultured GOP suburbanites living in the outskirts of KCMO forgetting their roots.
Meanwhile, today progressives make the case for immigrant and refugee rights citing the struggle of the Irish and their ultimate assimilation success.
We won't pretend to understand all of Irish history in the United States but the struggle that includes some funding for terrorism overseas, enduring rampant ethnic discrimination and coping with stereotypical perceptions but sometimes still very real issues with alcoholism is one of the greatest immigration stories every told i.e. Angela's Ashes is still probably one of the Top 5 books written in the past 30 years.
While the partisan debate over Irish immigration in the U.S. might be just another phony MSM juxtaposition . . . TKC is fascinated that many Americans don't really have any conception of modern day Ireland that is defined by socialism and a very real legacy of a struggle for liberation that contradicts the current adherence to authoritarianism which dominates today's American politics.
Our favorite, somewhat silly and dated Irish song . . .
For further edification we offer some of the best links on all things Irish up for debate at any local pub tonight and completely overlooked by Kansas City MSM . . .

And finally, the main point . . .
HAS KANSAS CITY CONVENIENTLY FORGOTTEN THE FAR REACHING INFLUENCE OF THE IRISH ON LOCAL HISTORY IN FAVOR OF JUST ANOTHER DRUNKEN PARTY???
You decide . . .
