Turns out there is just a bit of justice in the world after a year filled with rape investigations, alleged bar threats toward women and charges of vandalism end in disappointment for a great many middle-class subranite fans more than willing to overlook these flaws for the sake of reliving glory days.

ReplyDeleteNorthwest Missouri state wins the Football and Basketball National Championship and this is on 24/7 on our local news. Between Al Wallace, Frank Boal and all of the other "Sports Experts" whose times passed in 1999 after years and years of coming up with no new narrative except to pander to the beaks fan base. I have zero problem with covering a team, however the same team over and over is rather boring and reflects the dormant mentality of no creativity of our local journalists. UCM wins the basketball championship a few years back, J'den Cox wins his third national championship in wrestling, his third in 3 years and it's hardly mentioned. To be clear, this is not a reflection on a fan-base but to put a mirror on how weak our local news/sports coverage is.

ReplyDeleteIt seems like the Jayhawks always lose on a Friday or Saturday, giving their fans a day or more to recover before we see them at work. Schadenfreude is my favorite emotion, but it would be even more piquant if they would lose the day before a work day. Ah well one can dream.
