KANSAS CITY BIG 12 CREATES ANNUAL DOWNTOWN PARKING PRICE GOUGING!!!

Kansas City amateur urban planners love and vibrancy but the Big 12 basketball tradition is mostly just a headache for anybody who has to work Downtown.

First and foremost . . .

DOWNTOWN PARKING PRICE GOUGING THREATENS MOTORISTS THROUGHOUT THE LOOP AMID THE RUSH TO CASH IN ON TOURISTS!!!

We'll see if the streetcar alleviates some of the pressure but the fact is that riding along the route isn't as convenient as better access by way of pricey parking lots . . .

This pricetag is actually one of the more reasonable rates over the past few years . . .

Meanwhile, the restaurant and bar biz never makes out as much as civic boosters claim given that sports fanboys are content to stuff their faces with hot dogs and other concession stand garbage rather than enjoy one of the overpriced and lame P&L District locations.

Either way . . . The b-ball crowds will close streets, bring far too many people from Iowa into town and mostly serve as a nuisance to anybody who needs to get work done.

You've been warned.

Developing . . .

  1. While these folks might not be into fine dining. It's still good to keep downtown bustling, even if only for a few days.

  3. WTF. $30 to park a car for a few hours? No fucking thanks. Its like what they do at Arrowhead Stadium. Rape you for a few hours of parking. KCMO just doesnt get it. Im sure the Mayor thinks this is just fine and dandy. Hey, go unfuck your police dept. I used to think it was funny the talk between KCMO PD and KCMO FD, but now I completely side with the FD.

  7. Smart people know where to park for free. So if you're buying any of this nonsense you're not smart.

I don't pay for parking downtown. When people see me arrive in my car with the MU license plates that say MODOT, everyone offers to let
me park for free. It's what happens when you are a Mizzou genius who is universally respected

  9. Gotta love KC. Every time there is an event parking becomes ridiculously high, parking is hard to find and the vultures in their tow trucks are all over the place. I think the only thing that makes KC look worse is the other crime.

  12. When demand rises and supply lowers or stays the same, prices go up. When the opposite happens, prices go down. You can call this price gouging and price un-gouging, but really it's the first week of Econ 101.
