OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Two photos taken from surveillance footage at the CityPlace apartment complex Monday afternoon are circulating online and raising questions about the cause of Monday's devastating fire that completely destroyed one apartment complex and caused extensive damage to another, and resulted in 22 surrounding homes suffering fire damage.
I'd heard these reports on the radio, but hadn't seen pictures yet. Holy chit, that's damming. Why haven't the police put the public on notice to look for this truck. It's very distinctive and shouldn't be hard to find. Even if they believe that truck had nothing to do with anything, they should still want to at least talk to them.

ReplyDeleteI'll retract my earlier statement. Appears now (per KMBZ) that the fire investigator has spoken to the individual in the truck and determined that it wasn't arson. That being said, I'll speculate that the fluid on the wall is dousing water after welds being completed, apparently some embers were missed.

ReplyDeleteThat guy is wearing a welding hood and was probably welding judging by the leads going from the truck to where he is working. Could be using a cutting torch but he is probably welding. This is probably a terrible accident. He was probably welding a small plate, finished, and moved on to another spot.

ReplyDeletePerson may be wearing a hood/and or googles, and have a flammable temperament. If spotted, avoid sparking a confrontation, but call 911 for assistance.
