TKC SUNDAY FACT CHECK: TRUE OR FALSE??? MAYOR SLY SEYZ AIRLINES WILL PAY FOR NEW SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT!!!

Just as we warned Kansas City voters earlier . . . After Mayor Sly earns an $800,000,000 GO Bond Victory . . . He's already in the planning stages of and preparing for another single-terminal airport campaign kick-off.

Sadly, the latest effort simply repeats rhetoric that Mayor Sly has already crashed and burned . . .

Take a look:

Just like so many popular politico . . . Mayor Sly refuses to acknowledge any facts or arguments that contradict his agenda.

In a more effective strategic move, Mayor Sly James triggers the greed and paranoia of voters and argues that they're being short changed by MCI . . . When it fact, Kansas City residents have long claimed that convenience and low cost of the current configuration are more important than anything else.

Finally, Mayor Sly uses a catch phrase that offers a simple explanation to a complex challenge . . .

We've noted this before but it deserves repeating now that the argument is taking flight in Kansas City again . . .

THE AIRLINES ARE NOT CO-SIGNING ANY BOND ISSUE BACKING UP THE FINANCIAL FATE OF THE PROPOSED NEW KANSAS CITY SINGLE-TERMINAL!!!

Reality . . .

The extent of the airlines "backing" the single-terminal airport plan is only a non-binding, flimsy and completely unenforceable MOU document which only promises that IF Kansas City builds a new airport THEN the airlines will probably pay rent there, too.

Even the airport marketing dudes are forced to admit that . . . For KCI, KCMO petition and Missouri Statute require vote for bond issuance . . . LIKE IT OR NOT, THE AIRLINES ARE NOT FINANCIALLY OBLIGATED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW AIRPORT!!!

And so . . . Let's at the Mayor previews another ask for Kansas City voters amid his steadily falling popularity. It's worth considering that this argument might once again crash and burn.

You decide . . .

  13. @6:02 - Mexicans working in the U.S. will pay for the wall via a tax on the renumerations that they send home to their families (which are the #1 source of Mexican national income).

Sly would have the airport paid by us the taxpayer and by airport customers (many of us fall in both categories).

Actually oil is Mexico's #1 source of income. But why let facts get in the way of a good narrative?

  20. KC Taxpayers will not pay for the airport. Passengers, rental car users, parking users, people who patronize the retail shops and airlines will pay for the new terminal. It will be more expensive to fly out of KCI, but KCMO taxpayers won't be on the hook.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @7:20. - WRONG. Remittances replaced oil as Mexico's #1 source of income in December 2014, as reported by Forbes magazine in May 2015. Google it.

Kindly pull your head out of your ass and recognize the facts, shithead.

  24. I'm afraid Trump's infrastructure push will enable the airport project.

Widening I-70 would be a better deployment of funds for Missouri's economic health.

  25. False. Airlines will just put new charge on every ticket it might be 10%, 15% or 20% but the shareholders will not pay. Or it could be $20, $30 or $50 dollars for each ticket. What Southwest is really up to is reducing capacity(gates)and competition.

  26. LIKE IT OR NOT, THE AIRPORTS ARE NOT FINANCIALLY OBLIGATED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW AIRPORT!!!

There's a delightful lack of coherence in this statement.

  27. Tony, I must congratulate you on at least keeping the Mayor's staff up late on Sunday trying to obfuscate the truth and twisting your words. Now they're making up typos.

    Pitiful.

The airlines are not obligated to pay for the new airport. That is a fact. Shame on you consultant cretins for claiming otherwise.
