TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES SUFFERS POPULARITY PLUNGE THREATENING EPIC $800 MILLION GO BOND CAMPAIGN!!!

Mayor Sly James is selling an EPIC amount of debt to Kansas City voters and banking on his "popularity" as he makes a great deal of promises supported by nothing more than a smile but very few deets.

However . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY ISN'T SO POPULAR WITH LOCAL VOTERS ACCORDING TO RECENT POLLING AND A NEWBIE POLITICO ON THE SCENE!!!

You guessed it . . .

INSIDERS SAY THAT JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE IS NOW THE MOST LIKEABLE KANSAS CITY POLITICO BY FAR!!!

Supporting data to ago along with our month long series of posts on this topic . . .

- Exec Frank White won his office by an even bigger margin than Mayor Sly . . . He was unopposed.

- The deets of JaxCo are far too Byzantine to attract much public scrutiny and even the newspaper only assigns one newsie hack on half salary to show up late to meetings and reprint pressers . . . So it's non-stop PR for Exec White even though the JaxCo Jail looks like one of the lower circles of Hell.

- Spring Training is coming up and love for the home team also supports the Frank White cult of personality . . .

FACT: EXEC FRANK OUTRANKS MAYOR SLY IN TERMS OF VOTER POPULARITY FOLLOWING THE KANSAS CITY HONCHO'S PUBLIC OPPOSITION AND PROTEST OF PREZ TRUMP POLICIES!!!

To be fair, we can all pretend that this isn't all secret data leaked from Remington Research because they make their clients sign on to expensive non-disclosure forms . . . Which is a pretty big catch despite their discount prices. STILL, people talk and for the moment Kansas City's political elite still suffer from a slavish devotion to Team Ted Cruz that was mostly embarrassed by Prez Trump.

But here's the most important tidbit . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES IT'S ONLY CONSULTANT AND SPOKESMAN STEVE GLORIOSO WHO MISTAKENLY TOUTS MAYOR SLY'S POPULARITY AT A HIGHLY UNBELIEVABLE 70% APPROVAL RATING!!!

KANSAS CITY VOTERS DON'T NEED MUCH RESEARCH, POLLING OR REASSURANCE TO UNDERSTAND THAT RAISING TAXES OVER AND OVER IS AN UNPOPULAR MOVE!!!

Translation . . . Arguing for more taxes should and always will be a tough sell.

The reality is that with horrifically low voter turnout . . . The current administration has been able to tax KCMO to death time and again with a couple of notable setbacks.

However, coming back to the taxpayer trough over and over again has hurt the Mayor's nice guy image as an increasingly vocal group of residents vow to vote with their wallet rather than their heartstrings.

Developing . . .

  1. But everyone loves the streetcar!

We're going to ride this train all the way to pleasure town!

I'm guessing that it'll pass by 50 points.

I see what you are saying here TKC but people really vote with their feet and they'd rather just stay in Overland Park and visit occasionally then take all of the crime and taxes of KCMO.

    1. ^^^ Up late/early? Take it easy there, wildman.

As for the Mayor, his popularity hasn't been the same since the airport fiasco. Nobody wants to see their Mayor with a bullhorn on TV shouting for Muslim rights.

      Bad move Sly, bad move.

    2. Sly is great, but I'm not giving him any more of my fucking money.

  2. Him protesting at the airport has not hurt him at all.

    What has hurt him?

    Sleazy airport process
    Sleazy TIF process
Exploding murder rate and violent crime rate.
Public Works inability to provide good service on just about anything.
Tax burden continues to increase with very little to show for it.
No clear communication of what the hell exactly is the end game with all of these TIFs, taxes, streetcars and airports. Just some Trump-esque delusions of grandeur (It'll be great folks, believe me)

  3. His declining popularity is not new. It has been ongoing issue for the past five years. Thank God we are nearly halfway through the year. Voters should get accustomed to telling this Mayor "no". We have 2.5 years of it to go. Hang in there.

  4. Not reported is that White;s numbers are already dropping. The longer he is Exec the worse it will get.

  5. Slie and his cronies just want more from the citizens and giving back very little. The carrot on the GO bond issue is the city will allegedly take care of sidewalk repairs instead of the homeowners. Small wonder folks are moving out of Kansas City

  6. Just make sure the local masses have an abundance of beer, barbecue, college merch, sports and they'll vote for anything that's against their best interests.

  7. As long as KC white people, Asians and other non black minorities fail to turn out the vote Sly can rule however he wishes. FACT!!!

  8. For these two and other local polticos, popularity may be everything, but voter turnout would regularly indicate that most JaCo/KCMO residents really either don't care or have given up on electing people who might actually represent their needs.
How about paying just a little attention to appropriate priorities and competence?
Next time you fly, be sure to ask your pilot how popular they are instead of how many accident-free hours they have in the cockpit and let us all know how that works out.
Talentless celebrities and politicos are about the only groups where popularity is everything.
And there's a real concentration of both at 12th and Oak.
    Frosty.

  9. KC is just another decrepit Midwestern city, and nothing suggests that is going to change. Sly is going to leave the (mostly poor) residents of KC on the hook for gazillions in debt. Better start reading up on municipal bankruptcy.

  10. Go Mayor Bullhorn!

  11. Keep working hard at fucking the city up into a unlivable mess.

  12. I'm bringing my whole extended family to the polls for the April and also the August vote. That is 22 NO votes on everything.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh great more made-up non-existent poll numbers huh? Some fun.

  14. James should have suffered a popularity plunge 6 years ago.

  15. Why would a sitting mayor, who has already been reelected, conduct a popularity poll?

    So yes this is bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There's a gaping hole in Statewide Democratic seats and Sly plans to tap it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Everybody LOVES Sly.

Whatever he asks for, that's what he'll get.

There's NO WAY that people don't love all the taxes that he is proposing.

I believe it. Because Jon Stephens told me so!

  18. Somebody who actually knows something here said that the popularity slide for Sly isn't new.

Remember those airport numbers gave Sly a moment of pause?

They were related to him, too. James hasn't been a popular mayor in KC for two years. It's just that we live in a city where all of the elected officials are cowards, so very few people have the guts to challenge him. And there's more money to be made by catering to Sly's gigantic ego.

It gets even worse. Just ask Sly about his wife and hope that you're in public so he doesn't go off.

  19. Sly should challenge Claire for 2018. She's beyond her expiration date.

He could tack to the center and coast on his likeability and have a good chance.
