STEVE ROSE DOUBLES DOWN ON KANSAS AIRPORT COMPETITION FOR MCI!!!

Like it or not, a great many of our readers also look forward to the column of this Kansas power broker.

His latest screed attempts to give credibility to a plan that only exists in the minds of the consultant class.

Steve Rose: Johnson County airport could be serious threat

Only fit for late night pondering . . . You decide . . .

  1. I don't see a Johnson County airport as a threat to anything. KCMO doesn't need to be in the airport business, especially if JoCo built one. God knows MCI has been managed like a damn mess. Hell, lets let JoCo build and maintain the metro airport and let KCMO spend the next decade fixing the infrastructure they forgot existed.

  2. Threat??? Brownback wants to pay for an airport and we call it a threat? What sort of moron is this Rose character?

  3. This is more full of errors than his last one. Southwest NEVER offered to finance KCI. It's not more convenient for 50%, just those in KS who live south of 95th street. I also read this week that Southwest's largest customer would have to drive twice as far. He's low-balling the expense too.

This is nothing more than a victory lap for breaking a story that ironically, no one really paid attention to the first time likely because of the source.

  4. That's not irony. That's like asking for a new airport is like asking a concentration camp survivor which camp he'd like to visit next right Tony???

  6. Rose has always desperately wanted to be included among the swells of the Downtown Chamber, but could never make the cut.
This is just his latest attempt to carry some water for them by continuing the ridiculous notion of a Johnson County airport to replace KCI,
It's nothing more than pushing this idea to please the construction corporations, bond attorneys, and others who would cash in big time by having a new terminal project.
Upgrade the current terminals and then MAINTAIN THEM.
    What a concept!

  7. update kci. that simple.

  8. Airports are money pits. Let KS have it. Schools starting to suffer, roads starting to fall apart, and now an airport. Brownback is the worst governor in the history of the state, and that is quite a feat.

  9. Steve is one of the few folks whose work you can read and know less when finished than when started.

  10. Joco may try to provide a terminal to an airline or tow but that is all. It will not try to compete full scale with MCI

  11. KCI has not one international arrival. Nobody in Tokyo, London or Paris knows where it is. You only need a small airport. Since everyone of quality lives in the burbs, why not put the airport in a city with an accredited school district? It isn't like moving the airport will inconvenience the babymama east of, say, State Line Rd.!! Ha! Ha! Now go git yo food stamp,

  12. How much do you think Rose is getting paid to repeat the Kansas Airport B.S. He was relaying fake concern and anxious opinions on Ruckus. What a fool acting is not his forte.
