SHOW-ME MISSOURI CUTBACKS AGAINST TRUMAN SPORTS COMPLEX!!!

Here's where JoCo fans prepare to make another pitch to the broke-ass people of Jackson County . . .

Examiner: "Jackson County has a looming stadium funding problem among other financial headaches coming from the Missouri General Assembly, which is looking at tight spending of its own. After fiscal year 2019, the state’s $3 million-a-year contribution toward the upkeep and upgrades of the Truman Sports Complex is scheduled to end.“I know that’s a huge hole for the county,” lobbyist Fred Dreiling told county legislators this week."

  1. That $3,000,000 hole is way less than the Royals are paying Omar Infante not to play in 2017. It's time cities realize subsidizing sports stadiums only makes millionaires richer. If ten major league cities agreed to end sports subsidies the teams would have no place to go. Find ten new cities that could support a ML baseball team or an NFL team. But cities and counties love pouring money into stadiums and the owners have played them like a violin.

  3. Of course the people elected a county commission full of sports celebs and connected folks so bend over. Those outside the city will again be screwed into shelling out in an effort to entertain Johnson county and suck a few bucks into the City's pocket. Is there anyone out there, not in the complex food chain, who can say they have benefited from decades of pro sports and stadium upgrades and maintenance? Hell No, but you can bet those who don't pay much will vote to screw everyone else.

  4. I as a baseball fan may have benefited from the stadium renovation because now I can piss in a little nicer bathroom. But the ultimate beneficiaries in baseball are the players. Owners make a little money most years but mostly they are in it for the ego and knowing they will always be able to find another billionaire with a big ego to sell the team to at a profit. They are almost always going to spend all their revenue on players and to the extent that their facilities are paid for by taxpayers it just allows more funds for players. So now we have poor people paying sales taxes to support players making millions each year. Only stupid, lying politicians could allow this to happen and then sell it to the public.

  6. ...and the sad fact is the players will be long gone in a few years while the tax payers continue to shell out for the thrill of sports they mostly watch on TV anyway.

  10. Players do not pay 1% of their earnings to the earnings tax fund, so cut them OFF. No more taxpayer money for guys who are not fair and equal.
