SHOW-ME KANSAS CITY 'FIGHT FOR $15' MISSOURI SUPREME COURT SNEAK PEEK: STL MINIMUM WAGE HIKE UPHELD!!!

Here's a bit of foreshadowing of the upcoming fair wage fight headed for the August ballot . . . It seems that State Law is on the side of pay increase advocates.

Take a look:

STL: Missouri Supreme Court upholds St. Louis minimum wage hike

Deets:

Attorneys for the business organizations argued that without a state standard, there could be thousands of minimum wages throughout the state, leading to confusion rather than consistency.

Lawyers for the city contended the cost of living in St. Louis is substantially higher than other areas in the state, hence the need for a change.

The court found that the St. Louis increase didn't conflict with the wage set by state law.

"Its purpose of protecting employees is served by setting a floor for minimum wages; nothing in the law suggests the state also wanted to protect employers by setting a maximum minimum wage."

3:01, yes The Rethuglicans want a permanent underclass to serve them, like their English forefathers.

Raising the minimum wage will help the middle class.

  5. I see some good in this as long as KC wasn't smart enough to do the same thing.
Let all them know-nothing-nowork-morons move to StL for $11.00 per hour.
That'll clean our City up a little.
Think we can get the mayor a job there?

  6. 3:34 "know-nothin-NOWORK(?)-morons"????? How can you get a wage at 7.50 or 11.00 or 100.00 with "nowork"? And I don't know about you folks, but I'd rather have people working (as would every economist in America) than collecting welfare.

But I'm sure you'd prefer they collect welfare.

  8. The market self-corrects. Fifteen dollars an hour for unskilled human labor? Bring on the robots. As is already happening with Wendy's. Good for them! My order might be correct.

  11. Hey IDIOT Funkhouser, did you see the announcement that Wendy's is installing 1,000 automated servers? Instead of $15 an hour, those displaced workers will now get $0 an hour. Way to go, SHITHEAD!

  12. Yeah and the good news is the bots will get my order right!

  13. Minimum wage fast-food jobs used to be the STARTING POINT for teens getting into the job market. It was meant to be a temporary stepping-stone, but it is now the only way for some to make a living. It certainly isn't enough to live on or support a family. I don't know if paying a teenager $15.00 an hour to slouch around and give people the stink-eye is the way to go. We'll see if it becomes reality.
