Politically motivated, frivolous lawsuit brought to embarrass and defeat County Commissioners in last election. KMBC says Clay County spent $49,000 by year end to defend lawsuit. Deposition showed Markenson had only spent $50.00 as of last Fall. Markenson has been assisted by developers and others wanting control of County. Case will probably be against Markenson and he should have to pay legal fees, which may otherwise cost Clay County $100,000 plus.

DeleteIf you do the least little bit of research, and look at the articles on The Northland News (with actual documentation gained by sunshine requests). It's fairly obvious they were campaigning on the taxpayers' dime.
Hell, they had three different attorneys tell them "don't do it!"
Hopefully Ridgeway will go back to giving bpowjobs in her office. Its gotten her out of more than one mess. Nicole Brown might even be better so check there first.
ReplyDeleteRidgeway and Owen facing reelection in 2016 decided to spend tax dollars to enhance their positions as candidates. How criminal is it to use government dollars to promote your candidacy? Very much so. Ridgeway can't raise any money so hey let's use tax dollars. Owen, a multi millionaire just wants to be liked and went along with the Ridgeway idea of getting reelected. The county government has become like a third world organization. Headed by an incompetent administration who can't or won't comply with procurement and other regulations, several folks are going to head to a federal facility.

ReplyDeleteIn their deposition both Luann Ridgeway and Gene Owen claim that Nicole Brown acted outside of the chain of command and sent these birthday cards on her own. Yet, she was "awarded" a new Ford Explorer SUV and the use of a county owned home. Ms. Brown's Tourisum budget was also increased to an all time high in the latest county budget....you'll start seeing more Visit Clay County billboards i guess.

Another question that still hasn't been answered is what happened to the equipment the county purchased with an Emergency Managment grant from the Federal government. When asked The County Aministrator Dean Brookshier said he wouldn't anwer without a ""directive from the commission." Both Gene and Luann voted not to give that "directive" without first "speaking to legal counsel." Why would you need to speak with legal counsel if you had nothing to hide?
last week it got worse, both Gene and Luann voted to take away the commisison meeting minutes custodial rights away from the elected County Clerk and give them to Dean. That means their guy now is responsible for all sunshine request.
