DeleteAs a Brookside kid in the 60's, my pals and I got to ride our bikes anywhere we wanted to, including the Plaza.
ReplyDeleteThe streets of KC were totally safe and we never had any incidents or accidents.
We were certainly never surrounded by ignorant blacks in groups of 100 because, um, well, we never put ourselves in that situation. We knew where to find that, so we avoided it.
If we had ever wanted that, we would've just ridden our bikes over to the other side of Prospect, because Troost was not the beginning of the war zone like it is now.
It's a fucking shame this line was allowed to be moved.... In the Plaza, I guess you could say that line is now State Line. Plaza is just ate up, now. Like a disease. Westport unsafe by day or night for the last 30 years. Downtown P&L is where all my tax money goes to die or sent back to Cordish every year (thank you, former mayors of KC, all of whom were totally criminal to sell out KC residents this way)
In TEN OR LESS YEARS, there isn't a retailer on the planet besides COSTCO, SAMS, LOWE'S left that will want to do business in the Plaza, it will look SO odd there, won't it?
