Kansas City Policy Debate Ruckus Tonight

Even the most passionate disagreement over public policy seems mundane amid today's news of gunfire and hate crime . . . Still, that doesn't mean it's not important.

And so, this evening we focus on the local GOLD STANDARD of Kansas City discourse . . . Here's a glimpse of KCPT's RUCKUS tonight . . .

"Mike Shanin interviews U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder about key issues in the new administration including education and healthcare. Then Mary Anne Murray Simons, Jim Heeter, Patrick Tuohey and Steve Mirakian discuss the battle over a vetoed budget bill in Kansas which was ultimately sustained by the Senate after a House override, the continuing debate over a JOCO alternative to KCI and Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch."

Take a look:

  1. I heard that the messages for Yoder's telephone town hall weren't very nice.

I hope somebody does a Sunshine request, because that shit sounds FUNNY.

  3. Shannon is such a pompous ass.

Remember that time he ran for Congress thinking he actually had a chane to win? Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

  5. Glad Marakian said something about the culture of taxing everything to get things done in this country. We have too many elected officials in this country (especially locally) whose first thought whenever they want something is to raise taxes. Nevermind the tough of reducing spending and such to find money. Oh no, want a street car, raise taxes. Need roads fixed (which we area already being taxed for) raise taxes. Until we get people in office who actually think before they borrow and spend the cycle will continue and the lower and middle classes will suffer for it.

  6. Now this was a good episode, because 2 All-Stars were on the panel together, Steve Mirakian and Patrick Tuohey.

Whenever we have 2 of the Top 5 All Time Best Ruckus panelists, it's guaranteed to be an informative program. Never mind that Simons and Heeter were there blabbering their love for liberal snowflakes, high taxes, corrupt politicians, and transgendered kids, Mirakian and Tuohey put on a tutorial for intelligent, logic-based reasoning and public-speaking.

If Nick Haines, over at KCPT, wanted to produce a great program to follow Ruckus on Thursday evenings, look no further than "TKC Citizen Journal" -- a 30-minute alternative news program dedicated to KC truth.
