Historic Kansas City Northeast Vs. KCU Redux

Not a lot of new information in this report but a look at more pix of the "URBAN FORTRESS" monstrosity that might soon demolish a historic local building. Take a look: KCUMB wants to tear down abandon apartment complex to make room for parking, but some are fighting back

  1. "Abandoned"... that's a new one. The only reason it's empty is because KCU demanded everyone be evicted before they would buy it. My respect for that institution is plummeting .

  2. They should get a petition and put it to vote of KC and of course vote NO on $800 million of bonds in April.

  3. So many problems with this story. Residents of all HNE neighborhoods oppose purchasing historic buildings with the intent to tear them down. The most vocal of the group opposing this particular case are from Pendeleton Heights, Indian Mound, Independence Plaza, and Scarritt Renaissance. Independence Plaza neighborhood, which opposes the plan, is part of the KCU property. Scarritt Renaissance is less than a half mile "down the road." The apartments were not abandoned. They were occupied until KCU purchased them and made the forced eviction of the residents part of the terms of the sale. Please quit listening to whomever is feeding you this BS.

  4. Northeast activists crack me up! Place is a total shithole, and you all try and run out anyone trying to actually improve the area. The DO school should cut its losses, and move to another part of the city that actually wants it.
