Another Lesson In South Kansas City Rage

The question of charter schools and the ongoing education crisis at Hickman Mills inspires this neighborhood push back: Fake News in South KC

Comments

  1. Charter schools are a disaster, perform the same as a public school but creates govt waste by duplicating services that already exist in public ed.

With that being said, the blog post is right about Dr. Carpenter. In fact it will be right about many of the suburban/rural districts. Charter schools were great to push on KC & STL but will met heavy resistance to be statewide.

  2. A higher percentage of money is spent on administrators and administrative services for charter schools than public schools. Example, Michigan public schools spend 60% of dollars on instruction whereas the charters in the state spend on 47% with the difference either going to administrators, inflated building rental (which goes back to the corporate owners of the school) or administrative "services". Hickman Mills has already wasted enough money on magnet schools, freshmen centers, new administrative offices - they don't need to waste more by allowing charters in the district.

  3. Their couldn't be a more wasteful district than Hickman Mills there enrollment continues to decline but they have the same number of school buildings. They also have one of the highest tax levies for school districts.

  4. Carpenter is a con man and Lee's Summit is going regret hiring such a phony. He is just about money and status. He spent a large amount of money for a larger office for himself.

  5. Charter schools are bad but Dr. Carpenter is terrible as well. When said his students can never be as good as Blue Valley I'd have fired him right there. Even if he thinks he is just telling it like it is. That was pathetic & the community deserved better. The LSR7 school board made a dumb decision getting rid of their former superintendent and they are about to double down on dumb
