At the conclusion of the day, beyond all the culture war chest thumping and litany of other bad news, once again the most important issue is money.
Accordingly . . .
SPECIAL THANKS TO A KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDER FOR THIS IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT DOUBLE TAXATION THREATENING VOTERS IN JUST A FEW MONTHS!!!
Here's a very concise and BRILLIANT explanation of issues confronting voters . . .
Kansas City Insider: "Do the taxpayers know they will be double-taxed if GO Bond and 1/8 tax are both passed in April? How do the people on fixed incomes afford to continue to live in KC?"
You decide . . .
Shop outside of city limits?
ReplyDelete^^^^ A good start.
ReplyDeleteEven better. Live outside city limits.
Will Kansans support campaigns in favor of $15 minimum wage and higher taxes in KCMO?
ReplyDeleteProbably not, but KCMO needs to be aware of the imbalances and disruptions that economic actions would have with a totallly different system just across the street.
What this country needs most is a SPCTT - The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteI love America, but I can't spend the whole year here. I can't afford the taxes.
ReplyDeleteKCMO: The city with champagne dreams and a generic beer budget.
ReplyDeleteThese bizarre schemes drive away the very kinds of middle class residents and small businesses that any well-governed sensible community should be doing everything it can to attract, support, and keep.
What a bunch of big time losers!
There is no double taxation. One is a property tax, the other a sales tax. The taxes would fund entirely different things. A 1/8 cent tax for 10 years is so minimal that it should have no bearing on the bond question.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats be scammin'
ReplyDeletekc = detroit
ReplyDeleteone tax piled on top of another is how we get to bankruptcy even quicker.
Watch people LEAVE even faster.
3rd district is already abandoned just like Detroit in many sections.
every time we turn around some special pals of someone in public office gets a 30 year tax break. At what point does it go from economic development to straight out stealing?
ReplyDeleteKC&KCK=Detroit. The same old crooks, controlled by even bigger crooks run the show and we get to pay the bills. Take a good look at your utility and cell phone bills that already include 10 or more fees and taxes.
Slap fight over bond money? Ant time a big ticket item like this comes up, it's to be expected there will be other ideas on how to spend it. The discussion should have started back in the summer so it could have been worked out by now. No one, including most council members, had any inkling of the plan until the end of last year.
ReplyDeleteyou can double the senior citizens that already are eating dog food by placing the burden on our senior citizens
ReplyDelete^^^^That's ridiculous. Have you priced dog food lately?
ReplyDeleteExactly who is it we are putting on a show for that makes robbing citizens worth it?
ReplyDeleteKCMO doesn’t need ot issue bonds for funding. The streetcar people claim $2 billion in new development. The real estate taxes on this development alone should easily handle the City’s funding needs.
ReplyDeleteHouse going on the market come spring time, going small town you can have Kansas City.
