Councilman Lucas Clarifies His GO Bond Plan

And here's the leader of the next mayoral election in action . . . Councilman Lucas responds to Northeast News G.O. Bond editorial

Comments

  1. Mayor James and Councilman Lucas are playing a game against KCMO taxpayers, and it's called Divide And Conquer.

Both the Mayor's plan and the Councilman's plan are for $800M in new G.O. bonds, they're only quibbling over a relatively small point. They do not disagree on the Big Picture, which is to foist the largest general obligation bond offering in KCMO history upon the backs of an already overburdened taxpayer.

James and Lucas are both attorneys, familiar with crafting an argument to persuade a reluctant juror to see the situation as they lay out the circumstances. Both men deny responsibility for the situation facing KCMO in regards to delayed maintenance. Never mind that James is on public record stating that he was aware of the problem shortly after becoming Mayor. Along with delayed maintenance, James is clearly guilty of delayed prioritization of city problems. As if that wasn't bad enough, James has squandered millions of dollars on unnecessary projects, expanded the Mayor's staff and budget, and furthered the KCMO City Hall practice of living beyond your means.

The concerted plan from Mayor James, Council, and City Manager, has been to exacerbate a CRISIS situation so as to paint the public into a corner attempting to force them into voting for this ill-conceived tax death trap. The same strategy is in-play for the proposed single-terminal airport which the majority of residents have already rejected.

Sly James, Troy Schulte, and most of the Council are little more than sleight-of-hand carnival barkers.
