TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CLAY CHASTAIN ANNOUNCES YET ANOTHER KANSAS CITY TRANSIT EFFORT FOR 2017!!!

Kansas City's most prolific and persistent transit activist offers a look at the future and his continued activism which no steers away from light rail and offers a hint at something new.

Here's the latest and the FIRST preview of the effort from TKC . . .

Clay Chastain announces new transit initiative for the 2017 ballot-minus light rail

Light Rail Question #3 garnered 41% of the vote on November 8 even though...

1. It had no organized campaign behind it;

2. All Kansas City's governmental, business and media elitists were against it;

3. Much of the media either covered it late, under-reported it, or acted like it did not exist; and

4. Both Kansas City's transit organizations opposed it, to boot!

Thus, no one can doubt Light Rail Question #3 tapped into the public's concern over the city's ineffective, inadequate and costly transit system.

As a result, many of my supporters urged me to try again and (this time) organize a campaign to promote its passage.

However, since I promised I would not bring another light rail initiative to the ballot I have had to design a whole new transit initiative (minus light rail) that will still get the job done....provide the people a more green, prosperous and transit-oriented city.

My design is complete and this new rail-based transit initiative combines beauty with utility and has a very good chance of being approved by CITYWIDE voters in 2017 because...

1. It will have an organized campaign behind it;

2. It will not seek to use one of the bus sales taxes;

3. It will cost far less than the light rail plan, but still be comprehensive;

4. It will still secure a hefty federal matching grant; and

5. There is no other transit improvement plan out there that can compare!

I will release the details of this new transit petition plan, and the rationale behind it, later this week.

My aim remains...to continue trying something until I accomplish something to improve Kansas City and turn it in the right direction.

  2. Clay is not lying about his good turnout.

    He had a surprising number of people who voted for his plan but the consensus seems to be that the majority of those people thought they were voting for the streetcar extension. And that is something everyone can support!

  3. ^^^^ Doubtful. It was a crowded ballot and a lot of people didn't know most of the issues. That's the real secret to Clay's success.

    1. Well please replay it for him because KC is sick of his nonsense. I'm not sure who's the bigger kook, Clay or Byron. Both are morons that can't leave KC alone.

  13. I voted against it because of the tax association. If we can find a way to pay for it without increasing taxes, I would probably support it. As it is, Kansas Citians pay way too much in tax. Virtually, everything has an extra, bonus tax compounded by other taxes and I cannot support more taxation in Kansas City. Especially considering the poor services we receive from the City.

  14. Clay has cost KCMo hundreds of thousands of dollars with his petition and his risks city hall enacting measures to curtail our home grown petitions that we need to push back City Hall. He is using our process for his own benefit and that must stop, at long last it most stop!

  15. If everybody at KCMO city hall stopped using the processes and access for their own benefits, the building would be mostly empty.
    Sly and Clay in KC.
    World class!

  18. We will not support walking trails through downtown KC. We will not support roller skates for everyone. We will not support horses with or without wagons. We will not support pedal cars.
    We will support elect cars that drive themselves to a house for the patron to drive to work. An electric car which then drives itself to the next house.
    We will support smaller more frequent buses.
    We will not support Trolley.

  19. I look forward to Clay's new gondola plan. Will love to watch more of him wasting his life on something that will never see the light of day.
