ReplyDeleteis this the murder at 46th n state,,,, i wish we could transport thru time travel an old school wyandotters, all american types from the year 1965, some of the old timers that arent around anymore, and take them around the dotte to see how state avenue is a micro cosm of the usa. or, afro american crime, white trash mailaise and latino colonization has manifested itself for a few decades along state ave. back then, before op and the burbs and people leaving the metro periodm or going out into the rural hinterlands, back then wyco must have been a slice of americana, as i suspect from that book the 50s in wyandotte county. i am amazed, a few times scanning some obituries of a prominent kansan or former kansan will read " doris graduated from wyandotte high in 1959" i know we are never going back to that era, and i know it was after 2 world wars and a depression, so it wasnt all grits n gravy, but there are some old world american ideals i long to preserve.
