A recent meeting of the Kansas City Streetcar brain trust came to this conclusion . . .

“The Kansas City Streetcar Authority has evaluated the light rail proposal appearing on the Nov. 8th ballot, and has determined the plan to be unworkable and financially impractical. Rather, the Kansas City Streetcar Authority believes that it is appropriate to coordinate with the City of Kansas City, MO, and our regional partners to thoughtfully and methodically build on the success of the downtown streetcar starter line.”
A bold statement to be sure and yet another bit of Kansas City persuasion as we approach election day.

This just sounds like somebody wants to take credit for something that was never their brainchild. Their brilliant idea was to concoct a methodology to exclude most taxpayers while asking all taxpayers to fund that boondoggle. This is straight from Dickhead Slobbing Johnson.

ReplyDeleteAfter almost 10 years of incessant howling about how the toy train ruins everything, business along the line is up, 1500 residential units are coming online every year near the line, the streetcar corridor is the hottest real estate market in the city, commands the highest rents, is the most densely populated part of the city after the Plaza and is rapidly overtaking it, new businesses and jobs are moving in, and lots of people ride the thing every day. Good work, you influencers. You little boys are really winning. Whoops, misspelled whining.

After almost 10 years of incessant howling by taxpayers about how the toy train ruins everything, subsidized business along the line is up, 1500 subsidized residential units are coming online every year near the taxpayer-funded line, the streetcar corridor is the hottest subsidized real estate market in the city, commands the highest subsidized rents, is the most densely populated subsidized part of the city after the Plaza and is rapidly overtaking it, new subsidized businesses and subsidized jobs are moving in, and lots of people ride the taxpayer-funded thing every day.
