CRUEL KANSAS CITY FOREVER TAX ZOO HITS ONE MILLION VISITORS DURING 2016!!!

Call it a triumph of captivity or proof the global warming is condemning all of the creatures of this planet to a prison of their own design . . .

Here's another benchmark revealing that people don't understand the consequences of screwing with nature and imposing an endless series of taxes . . .

"For the first time in its history, the Kansas City Zoo has welcomed 1 million visitors in a calendar year."

From the official presser . . .

KC Zoo notches 1 million visitors

Deets:

“Thank you Kansas City,” Zoo Executive Director and CEO Randy Wisthoff said in a press release. “Each and every one of you that visited the zoo this year helped us reach this goal. Having a million visitors enjoy the zoo is a tribute to all the support this city and surrounding areas have provided. Thank you residents of Jackson and Clay County for supporting the Zoological District. We hope every day at our zoo is a new adventure for you, your famiilies and friends.”

Clay and Jackson counties became founding members of the Zoological Tax District in 2011 when their respective voters approved a one-eighth-cent sales tax to benefit the zoo.

  2. Randy Wistoff has done a great job with the zoo since he came here from Omaha. In fact, it's one of the very few institutions or projects in KCMO where good planning, oversight, financial controls, and excellent management have produced something the entire region can be proud of.
And step one was becoming independent from KCMO city government.
A lesson for others who are more interested in results and accountability than amateur politics, empty promises, grandiose dreams, patronage waste, grifters, and irresponsible spending.
A quality operation like the zoo could be a good candidate for regional financial support.

  3. The numbers need to subtract the apes who roam the zoo uncaged.

  4. They need to change the name of the zoo to represent the demographic change in the area and change it from Swope Park to Spook Park.

  5. Is the same guy counting who counts the streetcar riders and tourists? KCMO has a numerical distinction.

  6. And the streetcar has 340,000 riders per hour.
