TKC SUNDAY MUST READ!!! FORMER COLUMNIST BARB SHELLY SHARES OUTRAGE OVER KANSAS CITY STAR HARD RIGHT TURN GOP ENDORSEMENTS!!!

This weekend Kansas City's intelligentsia is outraged over the newspaper's hard right turn which OUR BLOG COMMUNITY WARNED ABOUT WEEKS AGO thanks to some of the very intelligent readers who are kind enough to share their perspective.

Accordingly . . .

CHECK BARB SHELLY SHARING HER RAGE OVER THE KANSAS CITY STAR HARD RIGHT TURN PREDICTED BY TKC AND THE CURRENT SLATE OF GOP ENDORSEMENTS!!!

Again, after TKC she notes the Missouri slate of Republican down ballot choices against Kansas City faves and she casts some serious aspersions against new management.

Her post is public. You can read the whole thing on FB, she shared with her friends and offered a call to action. Here's the most important part . . .

Former Kansas City Star Worker And Current Freelancer Barb Shelly:

The Kansas City Star, with an editorial board consisting of rookie publisher Tony Berg and freelancer Rich Hood, endorsed Blunt today for U.S. Senate over Jason Kander, one of the brightest lights to come out of Kansas City and Missouri in a long while. They chose greed and Washington connections over someone who cares about ethics and people. I am sick about this . . .

Right now, because of managerial incompetence, The Star has no full-time editorial writers. A new opinion editor is supposed to come on board in December. I doubt if Berg knows enough to understand that he has now placed this new editor and whomever else is hired to write opinion -- if anyone -- on the side of the NRA, voter suppression, discrimination against gays, repression of women and the interests of corporate greed over working and striving Americans.

Star publisher Tony Berg's email is tberg@kcstar.com. He doesn't respond to email or phone calls, apparently. But venting is all we can do at this point.

  1. They should have endorsed Trump, too.

  2. ^^^^^^^^ They endorsed Hillary. She's the real Republican in this race.

  3. Who reads the star anyway now?

But the part about blunt writing his own endorsement is just a standard blogging technique. The Star is just another blog now.

  4. Shut it down, lady and get the fuck over it.they are over you.

  5. "...hard right turn"?
Isn't the reaction from democrats all the proof you need that the star has always been nothing more than a cheer leading squad for the left?

  6. Babs is a truly insufferable broad.

  7. Ghasp... A media outlet that does not just endorse liberals??? What has the media world come too?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Does anyone here own stock in the KC Star? Then fuck the Star. Who cares? It isn't like your kids are going to have trauma reading it. In fact about the only thing left is the funny papers.

  9. The biggest complaint about the Star for decades has been their blatant left leaning content. They've continued to lose readership and lay off staff. Experimenting with new formats is a responsible business decision and Mrs. Shelley is simply upset that she's no longer included on the staff and cannot use the primary paper of record in KC to promote her agenda.

Mrs. Shelley's reaction of disgust and disagreement is how most of the folks who have cancelled their subscriptions over the past two decades have felt every time they read one of her editorials.

  10. Babs, how do you think the readers were feeling from reading your ridiculous incoherent ramblings over the years. Yourself and the rest of the former editorial and column writers were sending the paper towards its certain end. It is disappointing that the situation had to reach a crisis point before the Star's management finally did the right thing.

Barb is doing the right thing by holding her former employer accountable. She is a real journalist that has more integrity than most other former newspaper employees. Go Barb!

    ReplyDelete
  13. The only thing you can do is to not buy it which I will continue to not do. The paper is a big nothing masquerading as a big city newspaper.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @12:53 you're as delusional and rabidly left wing as Barbie. Integrity and Barbie are mutually exclusive terms.

  15. Bryan M. Stalder – who cares about the KC Star? Nobody under the age of 70 reads it. Their subscribers are dying off.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Shut up Barb Shelly. Try writing to find a job. At this point, nobody cares about your opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  17. don't read the columnists on eight-track-tape-style repeating loop.

would hope that they'll all be gone eventually, as seems likely now.

  18. "Babs, how do you think the readers were feeling from reading your ridiculous incoherent ramblings over the years."

And speaking of ridiculous incoherent ramblings... .

    ReplyDelete
  19. Now the Star also needs to shut down their rag, INK, and put money back into the Star and getting good journalists.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It must be nice to be Looie Doo-Good and know that no matter how bad things get at the Star you are completely untouchable.

  21. Bottom line - Blunt needs to go.

  22. Bard whatsherface can't hold anyone accountable. She is a fucking mouse trying to roar like a lion. She needs to learn her place and shut the fuck up.

  29. The letters section has been much more balanced since Diuguid left. He rarely published any letter that did not agree with his own opinions. If they had real political power, Diuguid would force everybody to sing Kumbaya, albeit at gunpoint, while the hard left Shelly would just administer a bullet behind the ear like her Commie role models used to do.

  30. Blunt is perfect example of what is wrong with the political system in the US! Vote him out along with do-nothing Cleaver.

  31. actually read the editorial, for the first time in a long time.

    it seemed substantive and sensible.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Would like to comment, but did not get the Star delivered, AGAIN! It is like they have a death wish.

  33. @5:33 "it seemed substantive and sensible." Yeah, if you're Baghdad Bob.

  34. The Star once was one of the country's better newspapers. This is really shameful.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I still wipe my ass with it, but the paper is getting rough. Those ink stains on my arse are becoming a bitch to wash off. I did nail Hilliary's photo a good one though. I must be getting old

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can see Barb's sentiments, but the left is what was sinking the ship. Nothing the left editorialists did ever helped crime or helped anyone- witness the murder rate here. Healthcare was made worse with Obamacare and doctors hate it- it takes longer to get a specialist now than before and doctors are abandoning it in droves- si it actually has discriminated against the poor. Liberals have made the world worse and helped make ISIS. Barb would do well by just getting a job as a Walmart door greeter so she couldn't keep making the world worse and quit spilling her vitriol. The monster of Hillary that liberals made will soon be in jail and just a reminder of how liberals don't care if they elect criminals.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 724- I agree. I can see the HRC bus with the wheels coming off will soon be done. They have no idea what is next or what the FBI/CIA is about to do. Wikileaks surely has at least one more trick up its sleeves that will put the Clinton machine out of business once and for all.

  39. DEAR BARB SHELLY,

You don't work at the KC Star anymore....thankfully.

You and your politically uber-liberal compatriots are the ones who helped run the Star into the ground head-first. That new management is attempting to rectify your old worn out kneejerk liberal response to anything and everything, is a BLESSING!

Please take your feelings from the recent endorsements and then multiply that hurt by 365 days per year, times multiple decades, and you'll get a sense for what all the reasonable conservatives have put up with when reading the Star.

Tony Berg and the new blood coming aboard the Star are heartily welcomed! I just hope they have the time and resources to give the turnaround a good shot.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wait. Are we pretending that the Star is relevant?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rich Hood sucks Woody Gonad. Has for thirty years. MoDeptTrans job.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You people are all freaking idiots- the previous editorial board of the Star actually analyzed issues and candidates for office and came up with well-reasoned commentary that was candid and insightful. And if it tended to lean toward the left, well, that's because those who lurk behind closed doors trying to consolidate their power, and who suckle at the teat of the public coffers are like vampires, afraid of the light that shines from good objective journalism, although I doubt any of you morons know what that really is. It is definitely not the piece in the Star the other day endorsing Blunt, which, if he didn't write it himself, then it looks like it was culled from a script for a few of his campaign commercials. Could not have painted a rosier picture of Blunt. So now you are right, the Star has lost any relevance it may have had. Except for the Sports section and the comics, no real reason to read it.

  43. From my comment to Kansas City's handmaiden to corruption on her FB page.

"What no one endorsed a drunken judge, or a convicted felon running against a former community college president for a seat on the community college board as you did? How can this be and what will the metro area's corrupt establishment do without you to shill for them and their sleazy projects? Kudos to Tony Berg for trying to turn a laughable left-wing rag into a real newspaper."

Thank God this sleazy hag no longer soils our paper of record. Instead she now degrades what used to be a credible alternative. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
