TKC FIRST LOOK REVIEW!!! YET ANOTHER FORMER KANSAS CITY STAR COLUMNIST STARTS BLOGGING!!! LET'S OFFER HELPFUL ADVICE FOR YAEL ON THE TRAIL!!!

Yael Abouhalkah is now a Kansas City blogger.

The former Kansas City Star columnist recently debuted his project with some kind words from friends, former colleagues and fellow progressives. It's a nice looking site that seems like one of the better templates from Wix.

Take a look:

yaelabouhalkah.com: Yael On The Trail

At first glance it doesn't look that much different than the stuff he has been writing at his former gig for decades. It's not bad but every. single. columnist. who has started a blog in Kansas City has failed to successfully transition to the writing life after support from the mainstream media is gone. From the Wildman to the Irishman . . . More than anything their content kinda just feels like reading a newspaper and if people wanted that . . . For the moment, they can go read a newspaper.

The reality here is that KCUR and the Pitch don't pay well and the former newspaper journalists working those prized gigs are getting paid less than fast food workers if at all.

The ambitious newspaper journalists who still need a check to keep the lights on all went to TV news . . . Like DeAnn Smith . . . It's a soulless and backbreaking industry but it pays and there's always a bit of a thrill to see a hottie reporter repeat the words of a much more knowledgeable producer. Also, the audience at any local TV station nearly triples the number of old people still looking at newsprint.

And so . . .

Yael (We're on a first name basis now that he's a blogger) . . . Promised to break out of his shell and share "what he really thinks" about Trump and Brownback and that might be what saves him from the horrible fate of the blogging doldrums endured by his colleagues and predecessors in the local blogosphere who typically lose interest in their own writing most of the week.

But I digress . . .

We don't hold grudges here @ TKC and we always want to help a blogger colleague . . . Given that, yes, like it or not . . . Yael is now a TKC blogging colleague . . .

So here goes . . .

PLEASE OFFER YOUR SUGGESTIONS FOR THE NEW "YAEL ON THE TRAIL" BLOG AND LET'S HELP THIS FORMER NEWSPAPER DUDE TRANSITION INTO THE KANSAS CITY BLOGGING LIFE!!!

Somebody remind me to send him a gift certificate to Starbucks and some snack cakes . . .

  1. Good for him.

He's out there trying something new and working pretty hard it seems.

He wrote three columns yesterday and that's far more than any of his former coworkers at the star.

I think he'll to better than those other columnists from the Star you mention TK. He's got a better insight and I bet he can still leverage his connections. Looking forward to reading his work!

  2. Kansas City blogging = Hitting bottom.

    Sorry Yael.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think he'll do pretty good but I think you're actually being a little bit too nice here.

Why would people want to read him? Anybody who can answer is answering the 50,000 question. Now that he's not with the paper, why is his opinion any more important than anybody else?

I read his stuff and it's nothing that I can't read on a million other blogs. I don't think he's going to be a regular read for a lot of people. I wonder if he'll keep it going past the election.

  5. Here is some great advice, Yael go fuck yourself!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes Tony, you are being way too nice. Atleast you're not kicking a man while he's down.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm surprised. Only one Brownback column.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Will he be paid by the same political insiders or is he free to write what he wants? If he is not getting paid and he writes the same stupid cheerleading crap he wrote for the Star then he really is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Has he considered writing about Kansas City restaurants? That's the best bet for bloggers, free food fun times. I hear Feast Magazine is hiring!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Blogging is the end of the line. Rock bottom. At least you'll have lot's of company.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yael, my advice, go fuck yourself

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ha! Yael is taking your advice, TKC! Hilarious and significant all at the same time. :D

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wish Yael all the best, but he will have to come up with some new column ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 6:48 wrote "Now that he's not with the paper, why is his opinion any more important than anybody else?" Why would his opinion be worth more than anybody else's even when he was with the newspaper? If that were so, then Diuguid's and Sanchez's opinions would also be super worthy, which is absurd to anybody who has read their work.

  15. I'll stick to TKC, thanks anyway.

  16. Yeal's comment section will be an echo chamber. You know what that is, right? Where the Democrat candidate gets the questions in advance and collusion between the “unbiased” 4th estate and the campaign place her on her throne in Rome On The Potomac.

The corruption from the Clinton scofflaws, in conjunction with the IRS, the DOJ, and the State Department, which in is ignored and obfuscated by a necrotic, lickspittle press, will, no doubt place your favorite Oligarch in charge of a country with a one party system.

You Yael, were part of that 4th Estate. The “shoulder soldier” for the Democrat Party which provides a corrupt weaponized relentless assault from a mendacious, Progressive, monolith that encompasses entertainment, education, government, unions and career politicians who all have the sympathetic, symbiotic ear of that same corrupt and pernicious press.

Best wishes Yael, in your new endeavor.

  17. The narrative is the set of assumptions the press believes in, possibly without even knowing that it believes in them. It’s so powerful because it’s unconscious. It’s not like they get together every morning and decide “These are the lies we tell today.” No, that would be too crude and honest. Rather, it’s a set of casual, nonrigorous assumptions about a reality they’ve never really experienced that’s arranged in such a way as to reinforce their best and most ideal presumptions about themselves and their importance to the system and the way they have chosen to live their lives.

It is Yael's Narrative and dominates the Progressive/Fascist 4th Estate.

Yael will cull the comment section for 'thought crimes' just like the good old days at the KC Star.

  18. RE: PLEASE OFFER YOUR SUGGESTIONS FOR THE NEW "YAEL ON THE TRAIL" BLOG

First off, the name is all wrong! "On the trail" implies that you're actually investigating something worthwhile. I guess in Yael's case, it's just a reference to him running aimlessly with scissors in hand.

Here are a few alternative suggestions:

    FAEL ON HIS TAIL

    FAEL ON THE TAKE

FAEL RAILS AFTER BLOG SET SAIL, UNCONTROLLABLY WAILS WHEN BESET BY HAIL

  19. What is it with the dried up wannabe media people in KC? Can they not work in a real job and make it? Time for these tree hugging, do nothings to learn some skills and try their best to be productive. Put a cute little hat on this guy, give him a toy train to drive and he could become a conversation piece.

^^^^ So, see you back this afternoon then? You've been making that dumb comment for years. So I guess you forgot to include building a loyal readership of haters - The TKC way!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, he did say he was retired, which differs greatly from people who blog as though they make a living at it.

Which they can't unless the $how-Me Institute checks are really good.

    ReplyDelete

    1. So which is it? Does Tony get paid or is he "blogging as though" he is?

      You're saying two different things.

    2. Everybody knows Tony shills for the $how-Me Institute for money. It's the worst-kept secret in town. Patsy brags about it like he's got Walter Fucking Cronkite on the payroll.

shill (n) an accomplice of a confidence trickster or swindler who poses as a genuine customer to entice or encourage others.

Get it? I mean, what other proof do you need?

  23. ^^^ Somebody pay TKC???

I'll believe that what I see it!

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha! If anybody had proof of that they'd link it all day long. Doubt that TKC could earn a check from this dump. That's just Tony's troll who checks this place every hour.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Somebody give Yael the number for the Rex Sinqefield blogger help line!

It looks like he could use it! That website is pretty sparse.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Why didn't the Pitch hire Yael? Even for a small amount that would have been a great way to stick it to the Star and show them that they're not the only game in town.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like Yael, I will read his blog. Sometimes he has an entertaining take on the issues.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Another Midtown Mom10/12/16, 11:49 AM

Yael had a great career at the star during the 80s. He did a good job holing Kay Barnes accountable. His downfall came when he started to play kingmaker with Mark Funkhouser.

  28. Kansas Governor Brownback Wins.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why do people use bold type?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Everybody knows trolley boy comes on TKC several times every day to spread bullshit about Tony and false numbers about toy choo choo ridership.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 11:53 +1
I hope that Yael gets to cover Kris Kobach when he is head of ICE in the Trump administration.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The name of Yael's blog should be Yale chases his tail !

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yale should go back to his favorite piece of TRANNY TAIL at Diebels , in particular the Queen of the Plaza owner !

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh , oh , so very much truth ! That Diebels is the safe space for triggered trannies ! ¡

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yael on the Trail

    meets Tony's Phony Baloney.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ^^^ But you'll read both. Junkie.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He wrote about Clay Chastain today. I agree with him but I'm not sure if that's the kind of stuff people want to read.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Now that he is not on the Star’s payroll, can’t wait for him to tear into the trolley mess. I will value his honest, educated opinion about what a disaster it is.

  39. Here's one.....
