SHAME!!! KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STILL FALLING BEHIND IN TEST SCORES AND PROMISES OF FULL ACCREDITATION!!!

Despite presser hype from the KCPS . . . The latest MAP test scores reveal a dismal picture for Kansas City's district.

Worst still . . . Hickman Mills is continues its disastrous turn for the worse.

Here's the only important thing in the paper today: Low test scores show KC, Hickman Mills school districts falling far short of goals

A quick look at the numbers show that public education throughout Missouri is suffering but these two districts have consistently been left behind despite ongoing promises of improvement that have never taken hold for long.

The knee-jerk and racist reaction here is to blame demographics but the fact is that school districts surrounding Hickman are doing much better . . . With an always shrinking student population . . . KCPS also has little excuse for their continued FAIL. Instead . . . Look at the politics, leadership and constant administrative battling which surrounds these districts as a sign of larger systemic issues that impact an increasingly diverse student population.

You decide . . .

  1. Charter schools killed education long ago.

  2. At least Hickman Mills will have all new office space for their failing administration. District is spending millions on the head honcho and his side kicks while the students and the community suffer. Oh well, the top dogs aren't investing in the students and community, they are investing in their resumes. Does the head honcho even trust the schools enough to send his own kids there?

  3. interesting question^^^^ I can't imagine ,having attended that school district ,myself..sending my own kids there.Let me re-phrase.there is no way in hELL I would put them through that ,ever.

  4. Somebody needs to the folks at South Kansas City Alliance nobody from Cerner has any intention of moving to the Hickman Mills School District area. John Sharp, Scott Taylor and Kevin McManus can continue go around and be fools.

  5. Don’t worry, in HMSD Dennis the Menace will pull out is go-to reason (excuse) – “racism”. All anyone needs to do is to listen to him a couple of times to discover that’s his favorite explanation. His answer; spend millions of tax payer dollars and run up the district debts in other financing schemes on his pet projects leaving the students, district and community for the worse. Too bad he doesn’t have a commitment to the community the way he does for his ego!

  6. The heavily-subsidized Cerner campus is nothing more than another eco devo dream concocted by same kinds of electeds that residents of KCMO just can't seem to get enough of.
What regular folks are looking for are safe neighborhoods, good schools, well-maintained streets, sidewalks, and parks, common sense water and sewer rates, and all the rest of the ordinary services that communities with actual city governments provide.
What passes for city government in KCMO is nothing more than an amateur real estate development gang.
And the results speak for themselves.
The Cerner campus will end up being a well-guarded fortress where employees stay all day and then leave for their homes in Johnson County, Lee's Summit, and other communities that focus on providing the basics and do a very good job at it.

  7. You can send you dog to school. I love my dog. But, he is in now way, going to master long division.

Blacks are a little smarter than your average Collie. There are exceptions, but pretending that blacks can master any type of curriculum other than African American Studies is insanity.

You may as well spend money on buildings, administrators and bullshit, because pretending that there is some magic solution to genetics will drive sane people nuts.

  8. ^^^^^ Having lived through the original school desegregation of both teachers and students, I can say for a fact that blacks top out at about 8th or 9th grade. And that's if they're in a school with tough discipline that works like crazy at pounding the basics into their heads. Otherwise, you get 3rd or 4th graders regardless of age or title. There are a few exceptions who prove the rule.

And if anybody too sensitive has wandered across my opinion, there are also whites who aren't able to master algebra or understand Shakespeare. But nobody argues that more money will fix them - we accept that they're not school material and see if we can find something they can do well, like a useful trade.

  9. REAL TALK^^^ but blacks is way too lazy and still not smart enough to learn a trade.you have to hustle to make a living at a trade ,just like or more so than other job's...too lazy -not smart enough = can't & won't hustle= FAIL

  10. I will bet a thousand bucks you will be able to run this same story in five years. It never ceases to amaze me how the population in these parts are so fucking willing to accept the low standards provided by their own government decade after decade.

  12. My wife taught school in the Philippines
The school had no windows, no air conditioning and the kids made they're lunch and cleaned up after
You want to talk poverty? Some of they're parents had to go into the jungle each day to find food or they dub don't eat that day
Most of those students didn't have paper so they would share a piece of chalk board and did assignments in that. They all graduate from high school and many find a way to college or trade school
She keeps in touch with many of them and most are doing financially better than I am
The point is this: you can pour all the money you want in a school, but if you don't value education, your not going to get one

  13. Hey 7:17 “Dennis the Menace” - that’s a good one and very appropriate. I’ve heard he still owns his home in Georgia – how’s that for commitment to HMSD and community. I’ve never heard such an egomaniac- well we have one running for President but that's another story. For those who don't know, Dennis Carpenter - oh I'm sorry Dr. Dennis Carpenter - is the Superintendent in HMSD. Of course the current Board members are nothing but his lackeys and fail the community by not standing up to his bullying of staff and patrons.
